If I might add...
This should be a whole new language
It is though isnt it??? Like arent linguists studying millennials and how we talk to each other cuz it's so fundamentally different from generations before us??
There was a knock on Kevin and Michael's office door. Mr. Karmel stepped in after a moment, looking even graver than usual. "Mr. Karmel," Michael greeted the man. "What's wrong?" The man cleared his throat before speaking. "There's a new reaper at the Dispatch. The Council thought it best if you both were to act as her Seniors..."
Kevin looked to Mr. Karmel when he entered. “A new reaper? Vhy do you zhink ve vould be best?”
“You’ll just handle soul collection. That’s all,” Kevin assured her.
“Great. Is there any of that today?”
Michael looked through her paperwork he’d picked up in Karmel’s office. “There are a couple reaps scheduled for this afternoon.”
"We'll probably have you just observe for today" Kevin remarked.

Kevin also forgot that their daughter would have a new name. He took a moment to compose himself before speaking. “Hallo Ms. Foster. My name is Kevin Cenaria-Spears and this is my husband, Michael Cenaria-Spears.”
Nova stood up, polite but still stiff and distant. It hurt Michael’s heart to see her like this. “Hello Mr. Cenaria-Spears and, Mr. Cenaria-Spears. Is there a way to distinguish between the two of you, or do I just call for one and get whichever answers?”
Michael cleared his throat. “A-ah, you can call me Michael, it’s fine.”
“And you can call me Kevin, if you’d like,” Kevin responded. This was going to be a lot harder than he thought.
She shrugged. “All right, I can do that. Why am I getting two Seniors anyway?”
“Oh uh… Kevin kinda… tends to make Juniors cry…”
“Well, if they would actually listen, I wouldn’t yell at them.”
Nova blinked, a brow raised curiously. “Uh… noted. I’ll do my best to listen then.”
Kevin cleared his throat. “I’m… I’m sure you’ll be fine. Have you been shown around the dispatch yet?”
“Yes, I’ve gotten a decent tour. And I’ll learn where everyone’s offices are eventually…”
“Well. We can start by showing you where our office is,” Kevin remarked. “That one will be the most important.”
“All right, lead the way then. See ya later Mr. Karmel.”
Michael blinked. She… was acting almost like Ronald when he was still a Junior, based on what his aunt and father had told him
Kevin noticed her behavior as well and glanced at his husband. “Well… follow me then. Good bye, Mr. Karmel.”
“Have a good day Mr. Karmel.”
“You three as well,” Karmel replied with a nod. Michael waited for Kevin and… Nova to head out before following them.
It didn’t take long for the three to arrive back at their office. Kevin opened the door and stepped aside. “After you,” he gestured to Nova.
Nova stepped in and took a seat. “Thanks. So how do we start this? Do I get one of you per day or per hour or something? Or are you a packaged deal 24/7?”
“Well. You’ll work with both of us most of the time. Though there will be times when you work with just Michael.”
“Oh? You gonna be off making other Juniors cry on those days then?”
Michael cleared his throat. “Ah no. At least, I hope not. But Kevin has several other duties alongside reaping.”
"Yes... so sometimes I will be away. There may also be times when Michael is helping out in the library, so it'll just be you and I then."

“Give us a few minutes and we’ll head over there,” Kevin told Mr. Karmel before getting up and walking over to his husband to comfort him.
“Of course. She’ll be waiting in my office.” He showed himself out, leaving the couple to themselves.
Michael looked at his husband, tears already shining in his eyes. “Amare… I-I’m so conflicted.”
Kevin pulled his husband into a hug. “I am too liebe… Mary is back… but it’s like we’ve lost her all over again. She doesn’t remember us.”
“And it’s not only that! Getting to know that she was able to live on in another life… it was more than I ever could’ve hoped for her when we lost her. But knowing now that she was so unhappy that she… did this to herself… A huge part of me is happy to have her back, even if she doesn’t remember us. But another part of me is crushed that our little girl had to suffer…” He sniffled, trying so hard to keep from crying.
“I know…I can’t believe she’s back with us as a reaper… what could’ve happened that made her so miserable that she committed suicide?” Kevin was also on the verge of tears over the situation
He sighed, squeezing his husband. “There’s really no way to tell until she becomes comfortable enough to tell us, if she ever does. We’ll… we’ll have to be content with what we have, maybe hope we can help her feel a little better at least…”
He nodded. “If we can set least do that much, I’ll be happy, ” he said and squeezed Michael’s hand back. “Should we go see her?”
Michael took a deep breath and wiped at his eyes, just in case. “Yeah, yeah let’s go see her.” He stood up and walked out of their office with his husband, both heading for Mr. Karmel’s office.
Once they arrived at their destination, Kevin took a moment to mature sure they're both ready. He then knocked on the office door.
