My Favourite LĂftÄ«*g Method EVER (for beginners) + Top Tips (small haul edition) <3
- okie, hear me out right. For drug stores, pharmacies and stationary & jewellery stores (and other places where you pick up fairly small trinkets), slĂȘĂšvĂ© cöncĂ©alĂźng is KEY. Yes, yes, i know this is like, the most basic and foundational method out there, but i feel like i still donât hear of enough people utilising it correctly ?
- Firstly, when it comes to any form of cöncĂ©alment at all, you know what, even w/ dropping things into cups/bags, appearance is so so key. Iss difficult because you want a balance between looking innocent & wearing something that allows you to body conceal, i.e a jumper. Personally, i take full advantage of winter in the UK and wear a ski jacket (because iss not suspicious when iss like 2°c outside) or any other puffy winter wear (it is key that your jacket is bulky to some degree, you donât want edges and corners of your items sticking out at weird angles being highlighted by your extra thin coat). Bomber jackets are also AMAZING for sleeve concĂ©almĂȘnt because of their baggy sleeves. Ski jackets are especially good because they usually have a SHIT TON of compartments and zips on the inside that allow you to drop things in as you go.
- Anyways, after youâve sorted out some sort of coat/jacket thatâs both puffy and has roomy sleeves, make sure you wear something extra innocent underneath, and where possible, always leave your coat zip undone (this usually looks a lot less suspicious as you appear more open & warm). I always go for the innocent soul cycle girl look, i.e grey yoga leggings, a cute light coloured sports bra and a baggy v-neck jumper (once again, light coloured). Not to sound snobby, but it really really pays to dress as if youâre well off/privileged. Avoid wearing black as much as you can, and instead opt for lighter neutral colours that make you look both innocent and help you blend in.
- Great, now that you look the part, letâs learn how to act the part (i promise imm getting to how to actually sleeve concéål effectively). Always, ALWAYS make an effort to smile at the LP standing @ the door. Take full advantage of covid, weâre all wearing masks anyways, so you donât even have to worry too much about the LP taking note of your face. Always be kind and sweet, theyâre not going to waste their time watching you/following you around the store if theyâve already deemed youâre low risk (thatâs not to say that you should get lazy/messy w/ your concĂ©almĂšnt though, thereâs ALWAYS someone watching).
- Now, to get to the actual concĂšalmĂ©nt. Sleeve concĂ©alĂźng is AMAZING simply because, when carried out correctly, it canât even be detected by people watching through cameras. Please note that this only works with small items though, such as eyeliner, pens, small beauty pallets, etc. The trick is to use your body language and actions effectively. Firstly, when you grab your item, move around the shop, grab a couple of decoys & make it so that your hands are somewhat full so that when one of the items go missing, iss not noticeable. Now itâs time to make the most of your actions & body language. Have your desired item in a suitable position in your hand, ready to ram it up your sleeve in a swift movement. Iâve gotten so good at this that even when Iâm w/ other people, they donât see/realise Iâm lĂźftĂng.
- You want to pick a movement that is somewhat sudden or abrupt that allows you to slide the item up your sleeve swiftly and smoothly. If youâre with other people, opt for a laugh, bend over a little as if the person youâre with has just told the funniest joke known to man and slide the item up your sleeve. If youâre alone, go for a sneeze or a cough. You can also pretend to trip, although you might want to save that for when youâre with someone else. The trick is to incorporate the lĂftĂźng into a natural movement you would make, rather than isolating the action & looking hella suspicious. Side note, make sure youâre not looking at the item while you do this- you want to make it look as natural as possible. Once youâve concĂšalĂ©d your item, you can go about putting decoys back and leaving the store. Oo, i forgot to mention, jackets with cuffed sleeves are also amazing because they prevent your items from falling out once theyâre in your sleeve, but this shouldnât be a problem with other jackets, as long as the cuffs of the sleeves arenât too loose.
- you can only lĂźft small items, however this isnât an issue if youâre going for high value jewellery
- you can only lift a couple of items, unless youâve got massive fucking arms ??
- do NOT leave packaging/tags around the store, take as much of it as you can with you
- if you decide to go with other people, be classy, donât be loud thinking itâll alleviate suspicion, itâll only draw attention. Make sure whoever you go with is also dressed for the part, even if theyâre not planning on lĂźftÄ«ng.
- never spend ages in a store you know youâre not going to buy anything from. Nothingâs more suspicious than someone walking around with full hands for 45 minutes only to leave the store empty handed. If youâre planning on only lĂźftĂŻng, make your trip swift, as if you went in to have a look but couldnât find what you were looking for.
Okie lovelies, thatâs all i can think of for now, let me know if you have any questions <3 xx kitty
