Have you ever felt a great emotion when seeing the light of a candle ? Are you fascinated by the primitive alliance between the flame and the wax who transforms her ? I'm always appreciate watching the wax melting, dripping movement and deforming by the heat of the fire, that show the instability of the matter. I observe how does it survive when she destined to disappear. How can she survives if it only to take on a new form, a new body ? As a master student artist-reseacher, i'm interested in this malleable and uncontrollable side of this living matter. I'm using the figure of demon like a metaphor to make a connection with the wax. I want to show an other image of the demon, to go beyond the stereotypical entity and to ask : if the demon had a form, what's it ? The beewax is very important in my artistic practise, because also we can make a connexion with the Christian religion, where the demon is Evil. She was considared like a holy matter. The Bishop Guillaume Durand said that "candle represents the body of the Christ", but what happens when is it deformed and became strange ? So how can i profaned this material ? Wax has an ancestral relationship with the body, developed in my practise. I invite you to discover my universe, to accept losing control and making a pact with the material.
