Don't play with my heart..
It’s not your dick
I’m seeing so many girls getting crushed over ugly little boys and I WILL NOT STAND FOR IT. PSA that everybody needs to hear:
He will not matter in 3 years.
He honestly doesn’t even matter right now. But I know it feels like he does.
He isn’t worth changing yourself for.
He isn’t worth doing something that you don’t want to do.
His happiness is NOT more important than yours. His decisions DO NOT weigh more than yours. His opinions ARE NOT worth more than yours.
Don’t wait for that call. Don’t wait for that text back. Don’t agonize over him being online or offline.
Wipe your tears. Pick up your crown. Wing your damn eyeliner and listen to some damn Rihanna and STOP LETTING A CRUSTY BOY MAKE YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE ANYTHING LESS THAN A FUCKING GODDESS. I PROMISE YOU, 100%, HE IS N O T W O R T H I T.

So I decided to make a Kagehina fic rec. Some other ships may be included in these fics but they are mentioned in the tags! Also, I couldn’t find all the authors on tumblr so if you know them, please let me know!
Note: Please make sure to read the tags before reading the fic. So if you’re uncomfortable with something, you can avoid it. This fic has almost all the imaginable catagories. Also I’m putting it under read more so you can always see the updated version!

can we discuss how gorgeous ukai is…,,
technology related sensory memories from my childhood
sliding the metal cover on floppy disks
the slight resistance of inserting cassette and video tapes
ripping off the strips of holed paper off of dot matrix printer paper
rolling the wheel on a disposable camera to take another photo
The heaviness and rubber texture of the roller ball in a computer mouse, and the little ring of lint
Unkinking the curly cord of a telephone while you talked
The -peww sound and slowly fading image of a crt monitor turning off, and then running your finger through the static on the dusty glass
The crunch of opening or closing a plastic Disney vhs cover
The sound effects in kidpix
Extending and collapsing metal antennas and using them as magic wands
Manually rewinding cassette tapes by spinning them around my fingers
Playing with the rubber casing of the buttons on a Walkman–pulling them away, rotating them, slipping them from side to side on the stiff posts of the buttons
The audio and visual static at the end of a videotape
The satisfying thwap-thwap-thwap as you page through a well-filled CD sleeve book
How weird and small and light the first cordless phone felt
The smell of VHS cases.
First portable CD players that always skipped when you moved too much.
Blowing into old GameBoy cartridges to get them to work.
Playing snake on a Nokia as a kid and listening to the ring tones like they were your jam.
The sound the foam cover of the headphones of your walkman as they slipped over your ears, before you pressed play.
The little static click you heard as you pressed next on your walkman to skip a song.
Pressing the power button on the monitor just to watch the screen come into focus and blip out again.
When the tracking on a vcr was messed up and would make the picture fwip down the screen over and over again.
The k-shck noise the CD-rom drive would make as it slid out and then back it.
Radio static when you tried to find an active station.
Fandom: Haikyuu!! Pairing: KyouHaba A/N: for @benetnash and @ninannarambling who thoroughly encouraged the kyouhabas and participation in the thing. written for @kyouhabaweek day 5: prompt - date.
Kyoutani has been acting strange.
While he often does things out of the norm for most people, Yahaba is usually able to pick at them, figure them out, make sense of what it is Kyoutani is trying to accomplish. They’ve hung out enough time over the course of the last month that he can detect the noticeable changes, the differences between a scowl and subtle drop of his mouth, can recognize when he’s sulking rather than angry or annoyed.
But the changes since he’s picked Kyoutani up that morning leave him stumped. Scratching his head and creasing his brows while he tries to pinpoint the differences.
Their first stop is a bakery Yahaba had been talking about for weeks, but was too far out of his way after practice to make it in time before they closed. Kyoutani opens the door for him, something he doesn’t normally do, and it leaves them standing awkwardly at the entrance for a few minutes trying to figure out who would go in first before a patron shoulders past them with a box full of the sweet confections.
“Are you just gonna stand there or what?” Kyoutani growls and Yahaba glances at him on his way in, takes note of the way Kyoutani’s knuckles whiten along the edge of the door.
When it comes time to pay, Kyoutani knocks him out of the way hard enough that the cashier’s eyes widen in alarm. He sets his selections next to Yahaba’s and shoves a handful of bills at her, mouth tugged down in an impatient scowl. “Ring it all up,” he says.
The girl stammers, looking first at Kyoutani then Yahaba and back again before collecting the strewn bills on the counter. “A-All of it?”
“Did I fucking stutter? Yeah, all of it.”
At the movies a few hours later, Kyoutani is at it again. Opening doors, paying for the extra large popcorn and drink Yahaba orders, but getting nothing for himself.
“Didn’t you want anything?” Yahaba asks.
Kyoutani shakes his head, grabs the concessions and walks ahead to toe the theater door open with his foot, mumbling, “we can fuckin’ share.”
The movie starts slow, a spy thriller Yahaba had seen trailers for and thought looked promising, but a half hour into it, he feels a little guilty for coaxing Kyoutani to see it when he’ll likely be glowering at the screen the entire time. But when he glances over, he finds that Kyoutani is not only paying attention, but his teeth are scored along the edge of his lip, eyes glued to the movie with surprising focus.
Yahaba shrugs, pleased that it isn’t all a waste, and reaches into the popcorn bucket, eyes widening when he realizes there’s already a hand there. The brush of fingers jolts him, makes him jump enough to knock the bucket over, spilling its contents all over the theater floor.
“Crap, sorry!” he whispers, flinching when he takes in the mess he’s made. But Kyoutani only shakes his head and makes a grab for Yahaba’s hand instead. Maybe to calm him. Maybe because of something else.
Yahaba stills.
Kyoutani’s hand is warm, clammy, a little shaky. Like he’s nervous or amped up or both. He doesn’t look at Yahaba and stays fixated on the movie, their fingers laced loosely together until the lights above brighten and the credits begin to roll. When it ends completely and Kyoutani gets up, it finally dawns on Yahaba what it is he’s been missing. The odd behavior, the offers to pay, the way Kyoutani is almost too nice, too polite, too considerate outside of their normal interactions.
They stop just outside of the theater when Yahaba turns to him, their fingers still linked. “Are we on a date?”
“The fuck kind of questions is th–” Kyoutani pauses, the color rising along appled cheeks. His eyebrows have permanently bonded and he tries to look anywhere except directly at Yahaba, scowl in place. “W-Would it suck so bad if it was?”
Now it all makes sense.
With a chuckle, Yahaba leans in and kisses the corner of Kyoutani’s mouth, pleased when the blush reaches the tips of his ears. “No, it wouldn’t suck,” he says, squeezing Kyoutani’s hand when they start walking. “But maybe next time, you could actually ask me first.”
Kyoutani huffs and turns away, but returns the squeeze anyway. “Yeah, I’ll keep that in mind.”
He looks at her like she’s the sun

The Knight
I had half a mind to just make an Iwaizumi arms appreciation post, but since that’s already been done, I may as well talk about his personality. Iwaizumi as a character is a little bit less developed than his buddy Oikawa and, in fact, seems to mostly exist as his foil. That is a shame, because he has a lot of potential. I really like this grump, ok? Let’s go.
The manliest dude
It’s fitting that Iwaizumi is a knight in the Haikyuu Quest thing, because that’s basically the blueprint for his personality. He is a Warrior. Specifically, Iwaizumi is one of the manliest characters in the show. And by that I don’t just mean that he’s the strongest. I mean, canonically, Iwa-chan is the strongest dude in Seijoh, but there’s also people like Ushijima.
What I mean by manly, is that he acts in a traditionally manly way. He basically embodies many of the tenets of Bushido, the Samurai code. It makes him the opposite of Oikawa in many ways. Where Tooru does strategy and empathy, like a good general, Hajime the warrior prefers to act. If Tooru is vain, sometimes selfish and petty, Hajime’s principles are based on sincerity (to the point of being blunt), loyalty, courage and respect. He tries to be proper senpai to his underclassmen, like when he protects babby Kageyama from Oikawa’s fury. Or how he just.. pouts disapprovingly at Tooru’s antics with Hinata. He’s basically extremely… old school.
Except in one area. The main way he would falter at being a samurai, is how he loses self-control around Oikawa. Part of this is because Tooru knows which buttons to push. But mainly, Hajime’s preferred method of keeping Oikawa from doing stupid shit or destroying himself, is violence. Possibly because he knows Oikawa so well that he figures it’s the only thing that will get through. Or possibly because he feels it’s the only way to properly deal with someone he cares about without losing honour or ‘face’ in a traditional sense. After all, manliness and emotional maturity don’t always go hand in hand (especially in teenage boys). This actually makes him a very human character, even if it’s usually played for laughs.
The ace
Iwaizumi is the kind of ace that leads by example. And it’s nice to see just how much respect his team mates have for him. I mean yes, everyone is deeply indebted to Oikawa. He is the captain of that team, the one that brings out the best in everyone. But Iwaizumi is the one they all aspire to be. People like Kags and Kindaichi look up to him. Kyoutani listens to him. Everyone seems to realize that this guy is a rock.
Aaand huge spoilers after the cut. The kind that will ruin the Season 2 final.
