it's a huge privilege for a binary trans person to even be able to go "i want to be gendered based on appearance, i just want people to see me as a man/woman", because, like...

i'm only speaking for myself, but as a nonbinary person, i want that too. i want nothing more than for people to look at me and just know or at least very confidently guess that i'm nonbinary.

but the world isn't built for us.

when people gender me based on appearance, i'm still either he, she or it. never they, never me. maybe the anonymous they, but never the gendered they that is for me.

nonbinary people have no choice to ask for a world where we ask for gender and pronouns instead of assuming. currently, that looks like us always having to fight to be recognised and respected at all.

oh, what i would give for the privilege to just be *seen* as nonbinary without having to assert it when it might be dangerous.
