Hamoud, my little boy, is only 17 months old, and he has spent more than half his life in war... He doesn’t know the warmth of a home, nor has he felt the safety of a real shelter. Every night, I hold his tiny hands and see his fingers trembling. I hear his cries, but all I can give him is my heart, yet a heart alone is not enough, and hunger shows no mercy😭😭

All I have is this tent that shudders under the rain. All I ask for are a few drops of milk, a piece of clothing to warm his fragile body, and a chance for him to sleep without the fear of freezing.

To everyone listening, to anyone who has felt the cold of winter: I ask for so little. With just five dollars, you could be the reason Hamoud gets through one night without pain.

Talaat Pasha's Official Orders Regarding the Armenian Massacres, March 1915-January 1916

March 25th, 1915

To Djemal Bey, Delegate at Adana:

The duty of everyone is to effect on the broadest lines possible the realization of the noble project of wiping out of existence the well-known elements [note: Armenians] who for centuries have been the barrier to the empire's progress in civilization.

We must, therefore, take upon ourselves the entire responsibility, pledging ourselves to this action no matter what happens, and always remembering how great is the sacrifice which the Government has made in entering the World War. We must work so that the means used may lead to the desired end.

In our dispatch dated February 18th, we announced that the Djemiet has decided to uproot and annihilate the different forces which for centuries have been a hindrance; for this purpose it is forced to resort to very bloody methods. Certainly the contemplation of these methods horrified us, but the Djemiet saw no other way of insuring the stability of its work.

Ali Riza [Note: the committee delegate at Aleppo] harshly criticised us and urged that we be merciful; such simplicity is nothing short of stupidity. We will find a place for all those who will not cooperate with us, a place that will wring their delicate heartstrings.

Again let me remind you of the question of property left. This is very important. Watch its distribution with vigilance; always examine the accounts and the use made of the proceeds.

Their existence must come to an end, however tragic the means may be; and no regard must be paid to either age or sex, or to conscientious scruples.

To the Prefecture of Aleppo:

It appears, from the interventions which have recently been made by the American Ambassador [Note: Mr. Morgenthau] at Constantinople on behalf of his Government, that the American Consuls are obtaining information by some secret means. They remain unconvinced, despite our assurance that the deportations will be accomplished in safety and comfort.

Be careful that events which attract attention shall not occur in connection with those who are near cities and other centres. In view of our present policy, it is most important that foreigners who are in those parts shall be convinced that the expulsion of the Armenians is in reality only deportation.

Therefore it is necessary that a show of gentle dealing shall be made for a while, and the usual measures be taken in suitable places.

All persons who have given information to the contrary shall be arrested and handed over to the military authorities for trial by court-martial. This order is recommended as very important.

We are informed that certain orphanages which have opened also admitted the children of the Armenians.

Should this be done through ignorance of our real purpose, or because of contempt of it, the Government will view the feeding of such children or any effort to prolong their lives as an act completely opposite to its purpose, since it regards the survival of these children as detrimental.

I recommend the orphanages not to receive such children; and no attempts are to be made to establish special orphanages for them.

We live in Tal AlHawa, Gaza. In the early days of the war, we were forced to flee our home after it was completely destroyed by occupation forces with fire and missiles. Our car was also burned down to a heap of metal, and all our clothes were burned too. We have been displaced 17 times, each time escaping death by a miracle. We walked long distances on foot with our children who struggled to keep up, driven by fear to escape danger.

After years of effort and construction for our house, then one day and one night everything vanished

My children's mental health has been shattered. They have suffered immensely from fear, displacement, and homelessness, with barely enough food and water to feed a small cat. They have endured carrying water over long distances throughout the day, surrounded by destruction, rockets, and shrapnel. They were deprived of continuing their education, despite being top students.

One of those times when we had to sleep in our previously destroyed house, a missile landed on us and, by God’s grace, it did not explode.

My children have been deprived of the food they love and need for their bodies and minds to grow, enduring constant fear and terror day and night for 10 months without any peace or rest. We also contracted many diseases, including hepatitis and skin infections due to the lack of water and hygiene supplies in overcrowded shelters and sometimes in our destroyed home :( . We were also forced to stay completely still for periods ranging from 3 to 7 days due to the ongoing siege, drinking contaminated water out of fear of the tanks around us.

Our car was not spared from the bombing either

The children's rooms were completely burned...

Some members of my family were martyred, and others were injured. Fear, crying, and sadness fill the place.

We once had all the comforts and basic tools for a decent life, but now we have lost everything. We cook our food over open fires despite the exhaustion and heat, and we barely manage to get flour, water, and firewood. Yet we remain resilient in northern Gaza despite the bombing, hunger, and severe shortages of water, medicine, and necessary supplies.

And now, that's all we have

I was even forced to wean my year-and-a-half-old daughter due to the lack of milk :( .

We are displaced and homeless, continuously moving from one place to another until this dreadful war ends.

My heart breaks for her.... :

the convo about mental health in south korea is actually very simple. every single mental health issue in south korean people and society can be traced back to japanese colonialism's hyperindustrialization of the peninsula that was then handed off to and continued by the U.S. military/government after the war.

every industry in south korea is soul crushing and health damaging because it was designed to extract resources and labor from korean people for the benefit of the ruling class and colonial powers and nothing has changed about that. it was designed to kill us and it does kill us.

if you are not korean and you have opinions about how south korea can improve their mental health your first suggestion better be the removal of U.S. military personnel on the peninsula or you're full of shit. you're participating in the same extraction of resources and labor that caused this. the kpop industry is exactly as "dark" as every other industry in south korea and by capitalizing on the suffering and death of korean people for moral satisfaction or attention you're directly contributing to the problem you oppose. the economic system korean people live in was designed to not treat koreans as human beings. and it's no coincidence that so many people in these convos refuse to treat korean people as human beings that deserve respect and to grieve our own artists and public figures in peace.

Agree, but also if a cult promised to house and feed me and let me be creative and cared for me emotionally and physically, and let me contribute in ways that capitalism doesn't value but which are valuable to a community, I would take it, because it's a much better alternative that what is currently available to me as a disabled person.
