HZD is actually one of the most relevant games right now because of its core message that is intelligence without empathy is destruction. But it will not be recognized as such because the gaming community is full of purists - people who put the game down because the main protagonist is a women and people who put the game down because it's photorealistic and they think that it automatically devalues it. Sorry but they had a horse with braids, a lion with dreads, a llama with dreads, the main goat character had curls. Whatever gender the characters were you only knew by either others using pronouns or how the character design presented them.

And the music was absolute fire like...bro zootopia wishes it had what this movie had

OKAY so i promised to make a compliation of the art/animation styles of to be hero x, and im finally doing it. it will take some time because THERE'S TOO MANY

without further ado, let's start with the guy who started it all

LIN LING

first off we have 3D civilian lin ling

for this one, i think most people call this the "comic"-style given the thick outlines, vivid coloring and shadows, and a little more simple line art

and then, X's hero montage ling ling

next, maybe i'll call this the "classic anime"-style. i know there isn't such a thing as classic anime style, but i think this style looks similar to many anime shows: eyes, face shape, nose and mouth. i think its also the same style they used for the Inertia Video they showed in the last episode.

this last one however... (ponders).. also looks classic anime-ish look too.. hmmm

Something something Nice and Lin Ling both have the narrative role of exploring the rules of the world, but Nice has to raw dog his way through them while Lin Ling gets to observe, analyze and reject them. Something something this is a continuation of their pre-treeman roles of performer and script-writer/editor, respectively.

Something something season 1 Lin Ling's arc was about him getting pushed into conforming to the rules of being the idol "Nice," before thinking about them for a minute and rejecting them. Season 2 looks like its gonna be about him getting pushed into conforming to the rules of being the weapon "Nice" and I pray to god he rejects those too.

Day 4: loneliness

Contrary to popular belief, I don't at all think Nice would have reached top 10 under Miss J's management and this is not to discredit her top tier skills and how she's basically holding the Treeman ecosystem together by a thread.

Lin Ling reached top 10 twice because he has, what's called in the current job market as, "high agency". He makes decisions with his own will and doesn't wait on hand and foot for the next instruction because A. he has experience working in a fast paced industry where you need to make autonomous creative directions and should need little to no micro management and B. he has an ability to connect with common men and their motivations (as seen in wolf girl arc). His unique factor was that he was very earnest in whatever he did, and wasn't trying to uphold company image.

Nice seemed like he was conditioned to work on Shang De's behest and without a firm hand on his shoulder guiding him around, he's prone to fumbling. This is not to say that he has no agency. It's to highlight that his agency was never fostered well. From what we see, Shang De pulls his strings by mixing in the anxiety of losing something or another. Which can kickstart his gears (space ship) or paralyse him with fear of consequence (smile arc). It's a very gambler style of management if you think about it. Can't say if this fear makes him too self involved or his self involvement amplifies this fear, either way, it's a trait unbecoming of a hero (Hell, dragon boy reached the top cause he was community service oriented)

When Nice asks himself "did fear make me weak?" he was right. fear (the feeling, not the substance) did make him weak.

And now we'll see if fear (the substance, not the feeling) makes any difference.

But basically my point is, Nice could've never reached top 10 after Shang De's influence. He literally never had a chance in life.
