Wait...Holy crap, Sorry for the late response I had been taking a break once again, this cause me a huge shock! This is really awful and felt like my trust is betrayed. I also wanna know more context of the situation too just to spread awareness
And I would like to properly address this now that I have a moment and I would like to start off by saying with 100% honestly that I am NOT a groomer.
I don't take this accusation lightly, especially since I've been doing art in minor-friendly spaces for years.
Now, with that said I'm going to address this in the most honest and calm way that I can.
Back when I was part of the BTAS askverse (my early-mid-twenties) I was stupid. I was annoying, and stupid, and trying to figure myself out after getting out of a VERY difficult situation in my own life. Does that excuse the fact someone who was a minor feels hurt by our friendship? Absolutely not.
I had an attachment issue and a deep want to help people. Unfortunately my help was less than helpful for a lot of people and sadly this was one of those cases. I made a lot of friends and had a little "found familly" dynamic with a couple people. Some I'm still in contact with, most I'm not. This individual was a minor, a late teen, that I had befriended. I won't give names because I want to keep anonymity for their comfort and protection. They called me 'mom' and were in a bad state. I, being the unhelpful helper I was, wanted to support them. THIS WAS BAD AND I RECOGNIZE THIS.
I talked them down from anxiety attacks, listened when they needed to vent, tried to understand their DID and other struggles, and tried to cheer them up when things looked rough. Doesn't sound like a bad thing except I made a really stupid mistake and treated them like I would one of my older friends sometimes. Not in the way of sharing innapropriate art and stuff, I wasn't that dumb. But looking back, I should have been more careful with words, stopped the 'familial' aspect of this friendship and generally just not talked to them. No teen needs a 20+ year old always talking to them. But I really felt I was being a good support for them... That wasn't the role I should have taken and they didn't need me for that. They had friends their own age, a family, and Phychiatrist. I wish I had recognized that I wasn't needed at the time.
I was in therapy of my own at the time. She helped me through so many of my mental blocks and issues that caused me to take this role in the life of someone I regret ever talking to. I brought this up to her finally after a while, especially since I was actually starting to worry and feel uncomfortable, myself. She flat-out told me that this was unhealthy, unhelpful, and was harmful. I started to go quiet after that. I didn't know how to end the friendship, so I just kind of dropped off. I stopped talking to almost everyone from my time in the askverse at that point.
When I first befriended this individual and decided to be their support, my hope was one day they wouldn't need me anyway. I never planned to stick around, I never planned any harm, never wanted anything more. This conversation with my therapist just made me aware that, not only should I never have tried to take this role, I needed to leave immediately.
About 4+ years I think have gone by since we actually communicated at all. My hope was that they were living a happy and fulfilling and safe life without me and I had moved on. I wasnt even aware they felt this way until recently. I genuinely had just thought we had both just gone our own way.
I didn't know I was still following them. They hadn't blocked me or unfriended me on discord, or anything. I liked a post on my dash not even recognizing that it was their account that shared it and got an immediate DM from them swearing at me and demanding I leave them alone. I was confused at first, but they didn't owe me an explanation, so I apologized for anything I did to harm them that made them react so strongly, and blocked them.
That wasn't the end of it. They sent hateful asks to my side blogs after that calling me a groomer and telling me to rot. Now I understood the hatred. I recognized that, while my intentions back when we were friends weren't bad, it hurt them. And it was MY fault as the adult. I should have known better. I made sure all of their blogs were blocked on all of mine so they wouldn't have to worry about seeing my content ever again. Then a friend told me that they were sending this copy/paste anon ask to all of my moots that have interacted with me recently.
This ask, while I can understand why they feel this way about me, makes it sound like I not only had bad intentions for them from the start, but have bad intentions for every minor I've met. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I have interacted with many minors and not only do I keep it appropriate, I keep it brief. Minors don't need to be calling a 30+ y/o their friend and I don't need child friends (I will be friendly, but not friends). I dont just go around grooming children. I don't want any harm to come to kids. Hell, I never wanted harm to come to THEM. And despite this whole situation giving me absolute hell for the last couple weeks, maybe I deserve it, I just want this person to have happiness and to be as far from them as possible. I can't decide whether or not I've harmed someone, past or present. I can't decide how they react or how they think about me. But, I can decide how I react. I want to respect them and my followers by explaining everything and politely taking my leave.
But I'll leave you with this: I regret who I was. I regret that, while my intentions weren't bad, it left a bad imprint on a minor's life. I regret letting it sit for so long without addressing it. But out of respect for their space and the many people they apparently messaged, I'm going to post this and let people decide to feel how they feel about me.
This blog will be gone soon because I think they may feel more at peace with it gone, and honestly, I will too after all of this. But I don't want to leave with anyone thinking that I am some monster. I have been in minor-friendly spaces for so long and have been very respectful to every person I've been in contact with... But this has been too much. Being associated as a "groomer" has me feeling sick. I never wanted to harm anyone, ESPECIALLY NOT MINORS.. and anon, you know who you are... I'm sorry you're hurt. I hope you're living your best life and can move past our bad friendship one day.
Thanks to my followers for supporting my art for so long, thank you for the kindness over the years and friendship. If anyone that doesn't think I'm a monster wants to contact me for new artwork or projects you can find my discord and I can share stuff. But this account has run its course. I haven't had peace in weeks and I'm done. This was the nail in the coffin. I want a peaceful life with my wife, dogs, and friends. I want to work my job in peace, and I want to draw without fear of people sending me anonymous hate.
This is such a really long story, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with this for so long. I been hoping and know that you're not capable of this, as someone who had personal experiences associated with these, it's not looking good that there's a lot of stuff that is being spread like this. I can understand how it's awful to deal with the way you wanted to make sure that person is alright, but you recognize some of the boundaries and focused on that. Knowing that they are spreading rumors about this especially that's potentially dangerous and could cause different consequences. I'm genuinely happy that you reached out to clear things up further, but please Mox, take your time, I assure you that you been dealing with so many things lately, and to top it all up with the decisions that we made whether it's good or bad. Don't be too harsh on yourself, but keep this in mind...I'll miss you a lot! Despite everything. 🫂💖

He happens to be a southern bounty hunter that is made out of coffee (as in he can shape-shift his tail into a sharp weapon, which is something I'd still had to doodle though and would had an advantage when he hide.), he's a violinist and songwriter too.
