Quick meth harm reduction guide
Fellow tweakers,
A couple of weeks ago a paper was published titled The Main Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Methamphetamine- Induced Neurotoxicity and Implications for Pharmacological Treatment. I highly recommend reading it.
Here are the quick list of substances which may reduce the harm of meth use according to the paper. Note that you may not be able to find all of these in your local pharmacy.
1. Fighting neurotoxicity
Vitamin C, selenium supplementation for at least 13 weeks, lithium, valproate and nicotinamide (a form of vitamin B3) all have been shown to reduce meth’s neurotoxicity (brain cells death).
2. Fighting excitotoxicity¹
Melatonin, N-acetylcysteine and dizocilpine have been shown to reduce the damage due to overstimulation of your neurons.
3. Fighting neuroinflammation
Minocycline and ibudilast have shown potential to treat neuroinflammation due to meth abuse.
4. Fighting long-term effects
9 cis-retinoic acid (derivative of Vitamin A), 7, 8-Dihydroxyflavone are undergoing clinical trials with promising results.
That’s all! Stay safe. Tweak smart!

¹ Excitotoxicity is a process by which nerve cells are damaged or killed by excessive stimulation by neurotransmitters.
