Continuing posting with a portrait of my BG3 character, Arno
His tarot counterpart is “The Moon” so I added a nod to that. Overall this was just intended as painting practice :3
Dragon Age as a media franchise is so good at ignoring it's own implications, that if you start to pick apart the world building, the brain worms get you and you are trapped here forever.
could you please stop purring these things right into my ear while i'm actively trying to fuck you up? thanks
Cut banter on the way to the throne room in the Archon's Palace. At least someone was having fun.
If both Lucanis and Taash are(n't) in the party. Lucanis: Taash, twenty gold says we get to the throne room before they do. Taash: You're on. If one of them is in the party. Lucanis: Come on. I bet Taash twenty gold we'd beat them to the throne room. Taash: Come on. I bet Lucanis twenty gold we'd beat him to the throne room. Lucanis: You owe me twenty gold, Taash. Taash: (Growls in frustration.) Taash: Hey. Lucanis. Twenty gold. Lucanis: I'm good for it.
I don't really agree that Solas being critical of the Dalish is equal to him being racist to his own people, or even a damnable aspect of his character in the long run?
like, imagine if we were thrown forwards in time and discovered that the only humans left were being ruled over and abused by every other race to the point that their oppression is relied upon as a foundation of all society (save maybe one country and a handful of tribes who are also oppressed for different reasons).
what if amongst all of that, we discovered that the few humans who had managed to escape and preserve some of our history were worshipping dictators as real deities. like they had shrines to putin and kim jong un and trump. their artifacts that they died to protect and revered as precious history were pencil sharpeners and legos.
and when you try to explain what our world was really like, how much other amazing stuff there was (medicine, cars, computers, democracies and civil rights (or in solas’ case, eons long harmonies and spells and social gatherings) skyscrapers, etc) they refuse to listen/believe you, get angry, call you crazy and abandon you to the wilds or try to kill you for slighting their "gods".
idk i'd be pretty pissed at them too? I wouldn't have much respect for them either?
ofc this is intentionally Solas centric, and isn't meant to diminish the irl struggles of the native peoples that the dalish are based on.
but i do think that theres 2 lenses to look at this through:
a) the dalish did a remarkable job at preserving a history that was wiped off the earth by every other culture and race, and the tools of their oppression can be reclaimed as a new culture,
and
b) solas had every right to be frustrated at the dalish for not just misunderstanding his culture, but for refusing to listen to him.
Solas being angry at the Dalish is justified. the Dalish not wanting to uproot their whole culture based on his word is justified. they just don't get along, that doesn't mean either is wrong or evil? The two concepts can coexist!
Mayor of D'Meta's Crossing will appear during the Blood of Arlathan quest only if Rook spared him. He will be in the Venatori camp on the side of the gods. In other cases, he becomes a darkspawn if left to die or a Grey Warden. However, there is a deleted scene in the game where Mayor Julius comes to the Lighthouse at the beginning of the quest Blood of Arlathan to help the Dalish. It's clarified that it was he who got the Venatori robes for the Veil Jumpers.
Actually you SHOULD make problematic content. You SHOULD explore dark or taboo topics. You SHOULD have a space where you can cope with your traumas or explore sensitive topics in a way that doesn't hurt anyone.
