There are wonderful stories that deserve to be told and loved and recognized for their genius and impact in this art form, but because of its lack of accessibility, they are not loved, they are not told, and they are not recognized when they are.
They are not even illegally accessible. Bootlegs for plays are not in any sort of demand like musicals because of its lack of popularity, which is caused by its lack of accessibility. All of problems these stories are not recognized are causes and effects of each other.
Plays do not have Tony performances or a soundtrack to follow, all they have is their story, and a limited run tell it, hence why many of these stories go by before any can fall in love with them.
To make plays accessible, even illegally, they have to become popular. To make them popular, they have to become accessible. So support them.
Musicals barely have accessibility, plays pratically have none. So support them.
Maybe one day their runs won’t be limited, maybe one day they be accessible for all to love and see. So support them.
They’re are ignorant people in power in theater who believe that making theater (musicals and plays) accessible will kill the art form in the days of technology. I disagree.
Theater can thrive in the days of technology. To make it be able to be seen by the dreamers and artists, the ones who want to watch and embody and create will make it thrive. So support them.
