Fantasia (1940) dir. J. Algar, S. Armstrong & F. Beebe Jr.
A coelacanth displays its species' odd swimming technique. Filmed in Indonesia. From Deep Ocean: Kingdom of the Coelacanth (2025).
Don’t you know I waited all my life for you, you big mug?
Barbara Stanwyck & Henry Fonda The Lady Eve (1941), directed by Preston Sturges
All this discourse over who does "painting with light"
Hiroshi Nagai's paintings need sunglasses to look at.
They look like how it feels to walk across a parking lot on a 98° summer day without a speck of shade in sight.
They look like heaven but also like you'd burn your bare feet on the ground.
Even when you can see shade you know it's not enough and the minute you step out you'll be burnt to a crisp like a vampire.
And it's BEAUTIFUL
I'll throw in the wonderful Eizin Suzuki into this ring too, a man whose work just breathes light without actually using dynamic lighting in the usual way. It's no surprise both Nagai and Suzuki are both considered prolific in art pertaining to the city pop genre because they're able to paint these kinds of scenes with a delicate touch.
This feels like I could trip on that radio and fall right into that water, feeling the crystal waves as I drop in.
And this, a nice stroll down a resort strip, where my sunscreened skin could literally feel cooked if I leaned too close to the tiling.
And then a nice stretch of summer street, wherein you could see your face in the flushed red of that car provided it didn't blind you from its sunny reflections.
I don't think I even need to say anything more, Suzuki's a massive influence in how he even places colours so warmly in such unorthodox manner. It's a naturally sunkissed talent~ 🌊

My thoughts on Clopin and why I can't wait to write him
I love the fact that he is both a puppeteer that entertains kids and is also super BLOODTHRISTY ngl. Its such a paradoxical personality that its super fun.
I rewatched the movie today and my dumass didn't even realize that Clopin was purposely subjecting Quasi and Phoebus to the judicial system they are "loyal" to when they found the Court of Miracles. Now we as the audience know that Quasi and Phoebus are against Frollo but Clopin and the other Romani have no idea about that at all.
Even in the beginning Clopin gives very snide almost hateful faces towards Quasimodo and I didn't understand it at first. Clopin absolutely despises Frollo and everyone associated with him understandably so.
So yeah I never noticed that he was purposely doing their judicial system on purpose to show how it feels to be persecuted in such a way. I assumed that because he had been born into that medieval and horrific system so naturally he adopted it.
But yeah he was actively mocking it. Especially citing something along the lines of being innocent is the worst crime of all which is an oxymoron. Yet it is the reality. Or it could speak to that it is the worst crime since the person didn't actually do it and they are being punished for nothing.
I also wonder what the Romani were doing while Esmeralda was being hunted down. Like other than being waterboarded(? idk what to call it) . I would have loved to see Esmeralda working with the other Romani more.
I can't wait to write this guy. It's crazy how much characterization this guy has with so little screentime.
If Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame would’ve come out just like… two decades later, Tumblr girlies would have been all over Clopin. He was like tailor-made to be a Tumblr sexyman.
Silly little jester outfit ✔️
Secret sinister side ✔️
Shirtless for a scene??? And he has love handles to boot ✔️
Good with kids ✔️
That freakin note he holds like 🔔Bells🔔of🔔Notre✨DAAAMMMMEEE✨
The cathedral may have bells but Clopin has PIPES. He also has three whole songs on the soundtrack + a reprise. That’s four songs. Quasimodo has two and Esmerelda has one. They’re all beautiful songs and this is one of, if not the best Disney soundtracks of all time, and this one side character gets to sing like half of the songs.
Anyway, y’all slept on this man
your natsu is so gorgeous!! i wanted to ask to you have any advice at drawing muscles ?
I don't have much advice on this other than studying a lot because I'm still learning myself! I have a pinterest board for this if you'd like to see what refs I use to study. you don't have to overcomplicate it jumping in, bc it's honestly kinda overwhelming (especially if you've been putting it off for a while like me LOLL). Some days I'll pick a specific muscle group to break apart (first two studies), and others I do an overall practice where I pick references that highlight certain areas (last two). I space these out and only do them when I don't really know what to draw for the day or don't feel like drawing at all. I also have a HUGEEE medical anatomy textbook sitting around somewhere which I'll study when I get over procrastinating it. Once you memorize the general shape of muscles, it's easier to apply it to characters of different physiques :) then after that it's just muscle memory (no pun intended).

One gifset per episode - S03E11 'Best'
Plot: Bahia Bay Middle School's classes are voting on the students with the best or most ability to do something. While Lor got "Most Athletic", Carver got "Best Shoes" and Tish got "Best Brain," Tino doesn't feel like he fits any of the categories and he's afraid he won't win a title in the yearbook. Trivia: Mrs. Mendoza (the woman who replaces Mr. Higginbotham after his arrest) appears for the first time in this episode.
i’m always thinking about that news story where a three year old boy who wandered away from his house and ended up in the middle of the woods was found by this local great pyrenees farm dog who herded the kid back to his unrelated owners house. and the guy was like. whose kid is this
that dog must have been like. hmm. this isn’t a goat. some human must have left their puppy behind by accident. i have to bring this to management. surely my owner will be able to sort out whatever has occurred. that kid was like i’m all alone and scared and omg a big fluffy puppy is here to help. and that fucking farmer looking at his dog like. who’s toddler did you steal???
I think it is very important that everyone see the good boy in question. His name is Buford.
If you can’t appreciate a dog named Buford, you have something wrong with you.
