Macy's A few weeks ago, my aunt and I went out shopping at a dead mall near me, and we decided to step inside a Macy’s. As I picked out two pairs of blue jeans, one with a floral pattern, I stepped into the dressing room. As I put it on, I couldn’t stop being so mesmerized by my reflection. And I’m getting to a point now in my transition, and especially my age, where I look very similar to my late mother.

Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty freaky, and the resemblance is very uncanny, but I can say after being on hrt for nearly two years now, I suppose that’s expected 🤷‍♀️

Masculinity expectations

I made this comic to play with and point out how society often pushes these examples as “not masculine enough” when that’s a dumb standard. Being a trans guy doesn’t erase the fact that I was raised with the expectations to be a woman and be feminine. But now that I’m learning what kind of man I want to be, I can take aspects of both masculinity and femininity from my life and make it my own.

When I first started HRT in April 2024, I wanted to make sure at least one person at the office knew just in case I suddenly went bananas while adjusting to estrogen. There was no real thought on my part that I *would* go nuts, but it seemed like a good idea to make sure that a colleague knew just in case.

I trust Natalie completely and we’ve been through some wacky stuff together: we’ve been at the office folding name cards for seating arrangements at 2am, we’ve been stuck in Canada due to an April snowstorm…

…the only time in my life a gun was pointed at me? Natalie was there!

[note – that last bit, while true, sounds infinitely more sinister than it actually was. I was not in danger… it’s just one of those fun things that’s *technically true* so I say it very tongue in cheek]

As you can imagine, the coming out went super well and gave me a huge sense of relief. One coworker was cool with me, which gave me a ton of hope and confidence to eventually start telling other coworkers down the road.

Other than being a cool and kind person, Natalie is very fashionable. I am less so, but I’ve been working on it! So getting a fashion compliment from her was like… eyyyyyyyy I must be doing something right!

Love you, Natalie, you rock and the world needs more people like you.
