Women in science
It becomes clearer to me every day that so many people only support black and brown women when it’s politically convenient to them and if we step out of line once (eg by disagreeing with them even on the smallest issues) then we’re suddenly too stupid to understand our own lives and brainwashed by whatever system they’ve decided is our oppressor but never themselves because they don’t see themselves as our oppressors

Iran is not Pro-Trans
Okay, so I watched Riley J. Dennis’ recent video about why he supports Islam, and while I disagree with pretty much most of what he says, the biggest face-palm moment for me was when he said this:
“In Iran, for instance, homosexuality is illegal and you can be executed for it, but since the 1980s, the Iranian government has partially funded sex change operations for transgender people, and since 2012, the government requires health insurance companies to fully cover the cost of those operations.”
The best part is that he presents this as a positive thing and as an argument for Iran’s tolerance and progressive attitude towards transgender people. When in reality, many of these people who transition are LGB people who are unable to legally live as men or women in same-sex relationships.
This article in the BBC elaborates, “Supporters of the government’s policy argue that transgender Iranians are given help to lead fulfilling lives, and have more freedom than in many other countries. But the concern is that gender reassignment surgery is being offered to people who are not transgender, but homosexual, and may lack the information to know the difference.”
Outlined in the article are two stories. One is of a lesbian woman named Donya who fled to Canada after being pressured to undergo seven years of hormone therapy and was almost pushed into surgery.
The other story comes from 21-year-old Soheil, a gay man, who fled to Turkey after his family approached him and insisted he transition into a woman.
“My father came to visit me in Tehran with two relatives,” he says. “They’d had a meeting to decide what to do about me… They told me: ‘You need to either have your gender changed or we will kill you and will not let you live in this family.’”
I’ll end my rant with this final quote from the article and from an anonymous psychologist at a state counseling center who used the pseudonym Shabnam to state her opinion of the situation.
Supporters of the government’s policy argue that transgender Iranians are given help to lead fulfilling lives, and have more freedom than in many other countries. But the concern is that gender reassignment surgery is being offered to people who are not transgender, but homosexual, and may lack the information to know the difference.
“I think a human rights violation is taking place,” says Shabnam. “What makes me sad is that organisations that are supposed to have a humanitarian and therapeutic purpose can take the side of the government, instead of taking care of people.”
mituna Peixes aesthetic!! - mod Fef
How can libfems walk around one minute preaching “no means no” and “consent should be enthusiastic” for then to turn around and tell a lesbian that it’s bigoted and morally wrong and completely unacceptable if she doesn’t force herself to consider dating people with penises whom she isn’t sexually or romantically attracted to like do y'all don’t see the hypocrisy?
If you look up symptoms of ASD specific to girls one of them is frequently “masculine behavior/dress” or whatever and people love to blame that on autism being an “extreme male brain” but it’s really very easily explained when you consider what femininity is: a set of implicit social rules forced on women. Like, of course autistic girls and women aren’t going to be as successful at performing femininity “correctly.” It doesn’t have to do with the fictitious male brain. It has to do with femininity being inaccessible to people who have difficulty navigating complex and arbitrary social conventions.
And coincidentally, multiple studies have shown a much, much higher incidence of autism spectrum disorders among girls referred to “gender clinics” / identifying as trans, than among the general population. There is a very clear link between autistic girls and girls who think they are (or should be) boys, just as there is a very clear link between lesbian girls and girls who think they are (or should be) boys, but nobody is allowed to point it out and ask why - or ask why people are so comfortable with the idea of sterilising a population of kids who are much more likely than the general population to be disabled and/or gay.
I was trying to find more research about the link between autism and dysphoria or a trans identity, and apparently there was a documentary on British TV last week about the London-based Tavistock and Portman ‘gender identity clinic’, which revealed some terrifying statistics:
This gender clinic “treats” children as young as three. (”Three children aged three were referred to the clinic in the past year, compared with none in the previous year.”)
“Ten years ago, the Tavistock received 40 referrals a year; now it is 1,400. Boys were once the majority – now around 1,000 of its patients are girls.” First, the number of children referred in 2015 was more than double the 2014 number. That’s a 100% increase. Second, in Britain, in one year - 1,400 children. 400 boys, 1,000 girls. I wonder why girl children are more scared or repelled by the idea of becoming women, than boy children are by the idea of becoming men?
And to go back to OP’s point: “The latest prevalence studies of autism indicate that 1.1% of the population in the UK may have autism.”
50% of the children referred to the Tavistock gender clinic - two thirds of which are girls - are on the autism spectrum.
I don’t understand people who don’t find the concept of "trans children” horrifying on every possible level.
Just thought I’d add this update, 6 months later…
My top three feminist exploitations of male-default language: 1. “Valar morghulis. All men must die.” “Yes, but we are not men.” - Daenerys, Game of Thrones 2. “No man can kill me!” “I am no man!!!!” - Eowyn, LotR: Return of the King 3. “God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs.” “Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth.” - Dr. Ellie Sattler, Jurassic Park

American White liberal racism is when you try to pretend Black women do not know about sex based oppression because you disassociate us from our sex (based on the stereotype of us being “manly”),as either non-women or male adjacent because we aren’t White women–that’s what they sound like when they call acknowledging biological sex “White Feminism”.
