Okay but Magnus having a study. A room in the loft that isnât just easily accessible to anyone so as to not attract unwanted attention. Walls lined with massive ceiling-high bookshelves on two sides and a lab on the third with a window front as the last, showing off sparkling NY at night. Magnus loving to work at night. Magnus being a night person in general. The study being a mix between modern and ageless, century-old magical artifacts lying next to newest technology, the interior thoâŚ. Real candles, old tomes, fresh flowers, a heavy mahogany desk, a fluffy carpet to protect the hardwood floors, an old-school gramophone in one corner, often playing smooth early 20th century tunes.
Alec falling asleep with his forehead glued to the desk top to the hypnotic sound of Magnus feather fountain pen scratching over parchment as he translates old warlock scripts into more easily readable speech. To the regular up and down of Magnus breathing, to the small sighs and murmured curses, to the muted clink when Magnus heavy-bottomed glass sits back on the desks surface. Burned down candles and Magnus gradually yet unnoticed letting the glamour go so he can see better in the semi-darkness. Alec snoring soundly and Magnus in such deep concentration he doesnât even consider bed before heâs done with however much needs to be done. Waking as if from a trance when heâs finally finished and realizing how late it is and how terribly Alecs back will hurt in the morning. Sending soothing vibes into Alecs sore muscle with a gentle touch to his shoulders and having magic carry him to their bedroom bc Magnus always uses it more freely when no one can see how much he can actually do with it.
Things are okay bc Alec doesnât wake when lowered carefully onto the sheets and Magnus falling into dreamless sleep beside him, satisfyingly exhausted.
What Iâm saying is: Magnus with a study. Magnus doing warlock things, experiments, potions, transcripts, discovering old spells, developing new ones, consulting his books all the time. Heâs not the High Warlock of Brooklyn for nothing. And he loves all the work that comes with it.
