Accessible, interactive, safe fandom spaces were literally created by women, for women. The harassment, hate, threats and sexualisation women faced in the Star Trek fandom, especially in the context of being Spirk shippers, drove women to create MLM-focused fandom spaces for themselves. It literally shaped our fandom history and how fandom stands today.
Like out of context I can wholly get how it sounds strange to say, but MLM-focused fandom spaces were literally founded on female fans. Even a little bit of research into fandom spaces as a whole would've told you that.
Exactly! Literally this! Cis gay men trying to "call out" these spaces for fetishization because they exist is literally men invading women's spaces and saying "god forbid women do anything."
This is not for you.
This is a post aimed at me and other people who constantly fall into guilt spirals over all the things they can’t do, and feel they should somehow magically be able to do anyway.
For me, and for the others, this is a gentle reminder:
- Posts asking for monetary donations are speaking to people who have money. Not your broke ass, still worrying how to buy food next month.
- Posts asking you to care about [extreme injustice of the day] are speaking to people who have energy to care. Not you, hanging onto your sanity by the fingernails.
And, most importantly: posts telling you that you are horrible/cheap/awful/rude/unworthy/unlikable if you don’t pay/reblog/signal boost/care? Those posts can fucking die in a fire.
TL;DR: Posts asking for shit you are not physically or mentally able to give?
THOSE POSTS ARE NOT FOR YOU.
I used to be radqueer because as someone who struggles with a paraphilic disorder I thought that they were the only ones who would see me as a human being and not a disgusting predator of some kind. So I joined discord servers dedicated to radqueers and oh my fucking god.. they are some of the most ignorant and disgusting people, they would brag about how much they wanted to harm others and how it gave them "euphoria" because they wanted a certain mental disorder that many struggled with every day. And the parra side of the community were some of the worst people I've ever met. They would send illegal p0rn links to in dms and talk disgustingly about others and wanting to commit crimes because they found it "hot". As someone who struggles with paraphilias it even made me sick how some of them would talk about whay they would do to people if they could.
im sorry you had to go through that, especially when you were trying to find comfort, i hope ypu can find comfort here.
there actually seems to be a lot of radqs who actually break the law, like they could get put in jail for engaging with alot of this shit that goes on in that community, and it seems even more dangerous when they encourage minors into their spaces and tell those like yourself with paraphilic disorders who would never offend or do anything to get yourself in trouble that that stuff is normal and safe to act on.
sometimes i think that this is less of an internet group and more of something far more dangerous. scares me a little being out here with this blog but ill be honest the fear wears off when i realise how many people are becoming aware of this shit. atleast i know im too jaded for their shit to effect me lol
Send me to Mars with party supplies before next august 5th
No guys you don’t understand.
The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing
This is humanity
Happy Birthday, Curiousity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
this is the supreme ancestor ship. they are all in love and they love revolution.
We have GOT to stop being assholes to people with receding and balding hairlines. There's not a single person that it can't affect. It affects trans men, particularly on hormones, it affects trans women, particularly those not on hormones, it affects people with endocrine issues, something that's becoming more prevalent and common, and it can affect people without a particular cause, including cis women. It's a normal part of being human and we NEED to stop dehumanizing and humiliating ppl for it
My bf started losing his hair in his early 20s and the effect it's had on him is devastating.
He's an actor and he was dropped by his agent after he stopped hiding his hair loss. The roles he was cast in narrowed and shifted from more heroic characters to villains, and eventually he became so miserable about it that he stopped going to auditions altogether.
He used to enjoy dyeing his hair bright colours, and he lost that means of self expression. It alienated him from his own appearance, which knocked him back in coming out and exploring his queerness. The way he talks about it often feels dysmorphic. He says shaving makes him feel like he's "rotting" - like he's "scraping the mold off [his] head".
I've seen drunk people and teenagers yell at him in the street and mock his baldness. I've seen people come up to him and slap his head or touch it without asking for permission. I've witnessed this behaviour from other trans people and women who I know would absolutely kick off if he took such a degrading or entitled attitude towards a part of their body, but seem to think it's OK to do it to him.
Since going bald people perceive him as more masculine. He feels people are more suspicious of him. Women are less likely to approach him. Folks are quicker to put him in a box or misread his behaviour as aggressive or threatening, when the reality is that he's neurodivergent and can't conform to rigid social norms.
Baldness is a heavily gendered characteristic. If someone is conventionally masculine enough and/or is protected by other intersecting powers and privileges (eg wealth) then baldness can reinforce their maleness and the harm to their social standing is minimised. But if their performance of maleness is complicated by something like queerness or disability, it creates a dissonance. They have what is perceived as a hypermasculine trait standing in sharp contrast with their refusal/failure to perform normative, idealised masculinity.
And that's how baldness is typically read - as failure. Especially when it exists outside of wealthy, successful, heterosexual masculinity but tbh even there too - just look at all the jokes about Jeff Bezos' baldness or Elon Musk getting hair plugs. It's similar to insulting Trump over his weight. Like yeah fuck those guys but all you're really doing is revealing to the fat and bald people in your life that you think their bodies are deserving of mockery.
And God help you if you're a bald woman. All women with receding hairlines are at a huge risk from transmisogyny.
Sorry for the essay. Baldness is absolutely a body neutrality issue. It's an ageism issue, and a trans issue, and I WISH there was a broader recognition of this.
It’s a disability issue as well. There are both mental and physical disabilities that cause hair loss as well as treatments (like chemo).
Girlboy
I’m pretty sure that girlboy*flux*, not normal girlboy.
So i blocked all mentions of tim because of the fact it can stand for a transphobic term(not saying what i means here, search it up if you want) and that means that I’m also blocking tim gunn.
