Quiet mornings are always nice except when your alarm goes off in the middle of a peaceful dream you were having, getting up from bed already made your head spin. Reaching a hand towards the blaring phone turning off the alarm, walking to the bathroom to brush your teeth and shower.
Getting ready for work was simple just putting clothes on and slipping your shoes on and heading outside to your car and drive to work listening to whatever played from your playlist. Parking your car you make sure you have all your stuff, your phone and bag. You get out your car and lock the doors walking over to the café you unlock the doors and walk inside heading to the back to clock in.
Right now you’re cleaning countertops and tables, lowering chairs and fixing the food display so everything’s fresh and nicely organized, turning on all the machines you place the wet rag in the sink washing your hands. Walking over to the ‘closed’ sign you flip it making sure it’s nice and neat and on the ‘open’ side.
It’s been ten minutes and someone’s already in the drive thru asking for an iced coffee and a muffin and you move automatically already putting a cup underneath the coffee machine while the water heats up and you grab a muffin placing it into a small brown box adorned with a little sticker to keep it shut. You mix the coffee with some milk and sugar and place a lid onto the cup. While you’re walking to the window the bell above the door jingles and you can hear some soft laughter “give me one moment guys!” You speak loudly for them to hear you as you round the corner, the man at the window pays for his order and you give it to him “have a nice morning” you speak as he drives off with a nod.
You walk back to the register and grab a notepad “alright what can I get you ladies” one of the girls leans against the countertop her pink bangs making her stand out as she points to something and tells the girl next to her, she speaks softly ordering for everyone and you write it down quickly “and what will the name be?” You ask and she answers “Sophia” you nod and write her name down on the cups as she pays while the other girls go and find a booth in the corner of the café. You’re halfway into finishing their orders when you feel eyes burning holes into the back of your head and you turn around and the girl with a leather jacket looks away quickly shoving Sophia’s arm gently.
You finish their orders and place it onto a tray on the counter calling her name “Sophia your orders ready” she stands up from the booth and thanks you heading back to the girls and they grab their drinks and pastry’s, it’s been a good while since they’ve been sitting there and you don’t mind because there’s also a few more customers sitting around the café but really you can’t get her face out of your head, her pretty eyes and silky smooth hair the way she smiles, even the way she looked at you. You thoughts are cut short when the girls start cleaning up their table and throwing trash away and Sophia walks up to the counter handing you a five dollar bill with a small paper folded on top of it and she walks away the other girls giggling at her like high school kids.
Pocketing the money you laugh to yourself, all the customers have left and it’s closing time, your cleaning tables and stacking chairs throwing away most of the old pastry’s and cleaning the displays so nothing gets left and molds somehow overnight. You make sure everything’s locked and you flip the ‘open’ sign so it shows ‘closed’ and you walk outside locking the café doors and heading to your car.
The drive home is quiet you don’t play any music since your head already hurts from today but you managed to get home and unlock your door closing it behind you and kicking your shoes off placing your bag on the kitchen table and heading to your room, you take a nice long shower washing your hair and putting some fresh sleeping attire on.
Honestly you had already forgotten about the paper but something reminded you about it and you took it out, the paper was written on ‘xxx-xxx-xxxx text me :)’ you stare at it for a while and laugh shaking your head debating on if you should text her or not but you shrug and pull out your phone opening messages and entering her number.

prom night was never your favorite. i mean, fancy, tight, itchy dresses and suits, fruit punch that tasted like dirty walls and disappointment, and rejection that stung like salt on an open wound.
minho was everyones crush. captain of the football team, straight a's somehow, and popular for being an arrogant, stuck up, rich kid, but nobody was ready for that conversation yet.
on a night like prom night where you would normally stand around and hide in a corner until it was over, you finally decided to step out of your little comfort circle and ask him out.
“..excuse me, minho?” you tapped his shoulder carefully, he turned around and looked down at you with an unamused glare. “no.” you tried to keep the smile on your face as you politely walked away.
it hurt, yeah, but it wasn't the first time you've gotten rejected, and you couldn't see why exactly that was.
you were known to be the quiet one, in the back of class by the window always minding your business and studying hard. maybe everyone saw you as a nerd? or thought you were boring?
you stepped outside to both get some air and get away from the big, wild crowd throwing you around like a paper bag in traffic, maybe the best decision of today.
the school's delinquent — han jisung — just so happened to be outside too, known for smoking cigarettes, driving like a maniac, and drinking liquor at the age of 17.
you tried to stay away from him, but somehow found yourself in a conversation with him. you sat on the curb and talked for a while with someone you'd usually avoid, crazy.
“so why are you here? got dumped?” he asks bluntly, flicking ash off of his cigarette. “i got rejected, not dumped.” he nods. “so much difference.” han states sarcastically.
“who rejected you?” han keeps his eyes on the night sky, taking drags of his cigarette every few minutes. “minho.” you whisper, the hint of sadness in your eyes evident to him.
“minho l or minho b?” he tries to lighten the mood, but seeing as that doesn't work, his voice gets just a little bit softer.
“wanna ruin our night together instead? i’ve got a half-flat bottle of cheap champagne in my car and a terrible playlist.”
the offer is tempting, but you also barely know this guy. after a second of life consideration, you agree. “that's the spirit!”
he pulls you towards the parking lot, leading you to his car. it's an old beat up honda, but surprisingly clean on the inside. he opens the passenger door for you. “well? get inside, sweetheart.”
he turns the car, the engine coughing but starting nonetheless. “first rule of shitty prom night: no sad music.”
he shuffles through his cracked phone until newjeans, illit, and aespa blasts way too loud from dying speakers. “second rule? we don’t say his name again tonight.” he winks.
“welcome to freedom, sweetheart.” he grins, speeding onto the dark back roads. he pulls out the champagne from an overnight bag in the backseat. “you ever drink before, good-kid?”
he chuckles, popping the champagne with a clumsy twist — it fizzes everywhere. “even better. first sip’s always the wildest.”
he pours a little into a crumpled paper cup and hands it to you with that mischievous glint in his eyes. “but we're underage.” you whisper like it's a secret.
“relax. live a little, for once. one drink on a shitty night isn't gonna kill you. i won’t let anything bad happen to you.”
he watches as your fingers wrap around the cup hesitantly, a slight sense of pride behind his cocky smirk. “that's it. don't overthink it. just do what feels good.”
he watches you take a small sip, a smile playing on his lips. “well? what do you think?” you cover your mouth, shaking your head. “it burns..”
“welcome to champagne, baby.” he reaches over, running the pad of his thumb over your lip, wiping away a drop of champagne. “it'll taste better once you get used to it. keep going. promise it won't kill you.”
“where'd you get champagne?” you ask, fidgeting with the cup idly. “my dad's liquor cabinet. what's prom without booze?”
“where are we even going?” you ask, watching the road for him while he recklessly drives. “somewhere no one would expect a perfect little 'good kid' like you to be.”
“you ever been to a party, baby? a real party. not one of those shitty high school ragers, an actual party with no rules, no parents, no limits.”
“what?” he laughs at your reaction, clearly enjoying the way your eyes widen. “what, you think i’d just drive around all night like a romantic fool?”
his smirk deepens, dangerous and electric. “there’s a warehouse downtown. underground music, stolen drinks, people dancing like they’ll never see tomorrow. my kind of place.”
he glances at you, voice lowering slightly. “you wanna keep playing safe? or do you wanna find out what really happens when good kids say 'yes'?”
some fucking how, you found yourself agreeing. maybe because you wanted to lose that 'good kid' image everyone forced you into, or maybe.. you were interested in this guy.
he got out of the car, helping you out of your seat and holding your hand while walking to the door, enforcing a few rules as well. “stay close. no wandering off on your own. and if some idiot tries to touch you, you let me handle it, understood?”
he leads you towards the music, his stride confident and his grip secure. he approached the source of the noise, a large warehouse with a crowd of people dancing and drinking inside.
han pushes open the heavy metal door, leading you inside. the warehouse is dark and dingy, the walls covered in graffiti and the floor sticky with spilled liquor.
people are everywhere — some dancing, some drinking, some making out against the wall. “oh my...”
“first stop: get that champagne flush outta your system.” he leads you to the small bar. “how?” he grins, reaching over for a bottle filled with clear, strong liquor. “with something stronger.”
he fills two paper cups with the liquid, handing one to you. “what? right now?” he slides the cup to you, smiling. “stop overthinking, down the hatch.”
and again, somehow you found yourself drinking it. “already a little tipsy, huh? can't hold your alcohol, can you, baby?”
he takes a step closer, boxing you in against the table, his arm leaning on the splintered, wooden bar behind you. “i can tell by that cute little flush on your cheeks.”
he reaches up, gently tracing a finger along your jawline. “what are you doing?” you breathe out. you barely knew this guy, yet somehow you felt safe, protected in a place most wouldn't.
“dunno.” han leans in, his body mere inches away from yours. you can feel the heat radiating off him, the subtle scent of smoke and spice in the air.
“i've never done this before...” you admit quietly, his eyes soften at your confession. “never done what, exactly? been to a party or kissed someone?”
“both...” he chuckles softly, looking down at you almost protectively. “you've never been kissed?” you shake your head no, swallowing nervously.
“you sure as hell didn't pick an easy first time… showing up with me in some dirty warehouse full of strangers.”
silence, his hand on your hip. “you're—” you swallow. “you're close...” he chuckles again, his hair messily framing his face. “not close enough...”
your eyes flicker to his lips, then his eyes, then back again. “keep lookin' at me like that and i'm gonna do something stupid.”
“y/n... is it okay if i kiss you?” the world seems to stop, bodies slowing, music quieting, just you and him. “yes...”
the moment the word leaves your lips, he's not wasting any more time. his mouth instantly crashes down on yours, his hand on your hip pulling you even closer. the kiss is fierce, almost desperate, fueled by a mix of tension and desire.
his body presses up against yours, boxing you in against the table. his tongue runs along the seam of your lips, a silent, consensual ask for access.
he can feel the slight flinch in your body as you react to the kiss, but your lack of resistance only intensifies his need. his hand slips up to your waist, his fingers tracing light, teasing patterns through your shirt.
his tongue dips into your mouth, exploring… tasting… careful. he deepens the kiss, his body pressing harder into yours. he has you completely pinned now, trapped between the table and him.
the kiss lasted for a while, a minute, maybe thirty, an hour? you didn't know. the only thing bringing you back was a man clearly older than you trying to ask you out. han immediately moved in between the two of you.
“she's not interested.”
“let the lady talk for herself.”
“she doesn't want to.”
“i'm her friend, came to take her home.”
“funny, she never mentioned you.”
“she's still coming with me.”
“no, she's really not.”
when that guy finally did walk away, han acted like he knew you for ages, like you were something crazy important to him.
“are you okay? did he do anything i missed?” you shake your head, he seemed lost in thought as he kept you close.
“i think it's time to go, i don't want that happening again.” he seemed genuinely concerned leading you out of the sketchy warehouse, despite being tipsy himself, he put you before him.
“where should we go, baby? you hungry?” he starts the car, now hyper aware or everything around you.
“i guess i am a bit hungry.” you admit quietly, head spinning just a bit from the earlier liquor. he starts driving, just as reckless as before if not more.
the ride to some fast food place was mostly quiet, but you saw it in his focused eyes; protection, slight anger.
“are you okay?” you asked slowly, han nodded and pulled into the drive thru. “where are you gonna stay tonight? your parents will definitely know you went to some party.”
“right,” you sigh, he glances at you. “you can stay at my place if you want, my parents are out of town for the week for some hockey thing for my brother.”
when you did arrive, the alcohol you had really kicked in. you stumbled in and held on to a nearby wall for any type of support. “lightweight.” he giggles, taking off his shoes and leading you to the couch to sit you down.
“i'm so dizzy...” you mutter. “yeah, liquor is supposed to do that, honey.” he opens the bag with fast food in it. “first time drinking is always the craziest.”
“how do i turn it off..” you throw your head back on the couch. “o-ho! you got jokes!” he laughs. “the night just began, baby, you can't give up on me yet.”
he grabs a burger out of the bag and sits next to you, kicking his feet up and onto the table. “you'll be alright in the morning. somewhat.”
without thinking straight, you instinctively move closer, which does not go unnoticed at all by han. “guess i got myself a clingy drunk.”
