What if Metroman and Megamind had become friends instead of enemies??

Like I know all the kids instantly loved Metro man, but the idea that some parents wouldn’t want their kids around an alien, even if he was charming as hell, is crazy.

So Metroman ends up sitting at Megaminds table, just the two of them. And yeah, he can fly at super sonic speed and shoot lasers out of his eyes, but Megamind’s the first kid he’s met that comes close to doing cool stuff like that. Like make rayguns and crazy inventions.

Metroman isn’t being mean to him, and Megamind thinks that he’s not entirely the worst(though he definitely could stand to get into some more trouble)

So they become thick as thieves, staying overnight at each other’s places(the prisoners and Metromans parents are definitely confused by it? But love their kids enough and want them to be happy, so what the hell) and they stay up as late as they can watching superhero movies and designing their costumes and coming up with cool names(as they haven’t already chosen their monikers yet)

Wayne starts call megamind Megs, because Megamind is too long to say every time and Megamind quickly grows to the nickname.

High school is when they start slowly drifting apart. Sure they both still want to be friends, but older they get, the more things change. They have different friends groups, and different hobbies and Megamind realizes that every hero needs and villain, and starts an angsty teen phase which further splits them apart.

But even still made time once a week to watch an old superhero movie, and gather up new linked to use in banter, and try and aim popcorn into each other’s mouths. And Then they fall for the same girl.

And that’s what does it. They say mean things to each other, in a heated argument. And they don’t take them back. They don’t talk for a week.

Metroman’s ego had been growing since he was a kid, and Megamind’s angst phase was boiling over into more serious crime.

They stop hanging out as often. They stop sitting at lunch together. Megamind stops tutoring him, and Metroman starts picking other people for project partners. They graduate, and they don’t see each other for a while after.

- and then the whole movie can happen, but with the dynamic of these two dummies wanting to be best friends again, but not knowing how and still somewhat interacting like besties who haven’t talked outside of nemesis banter.

Like yeah ‘this person fights me like once every few days and we both don’t take it to the death seriously, but I also know this idiot is allergic to strawberries and once ate an entire batch of them before jabbing his epipen in the wrong place and I had to drag him to the hospital, so I know he’s a total dumbass but I still care about him anyways’. And ‘yes this person is robbing a bank rn but I know that he once literally tripped up some stairs before so I wouldn’t worry about it too much ‘

And poor Roxanne has to deal with these dummies dancing around their feelings because of course they can’t won’t talk about them
