B-day Games

Sora’s overenthusiastic greeting and public displays of affection were only enough to draw a few curious glances from first-timers and a couple fond looks from some of the regulars. Everyone that knew of Sora knew of the young man’s open and caring nature.

The blonde peered over his own shoulder as they were walking and grinned at the other’s words.

“Of course Sora had to wait, ‘cause Sora wanted to play with Kou-chan~”

The first game that he led Kou over to appeared to be a racing game of some kind, after watching the demo video fro a moment, Sora popped a couple of the game tokens he held in and hit the start button for player one and tugged Kou to that spot before taking player two for himself.

He’d been bouncing in his spot behind the counter practically the whole day as the time crawled. He’d been pulling some extra late nights at home and staying after classes instead of going on his usual explorations around the city in order to finish a project he’d been working on. And he wanted to show it to Kou - though only after he’d played a couple of the new games with his friend.

A Game of ‘Tag’

Silence. Blessed silence.

The only sounds that filled the office that Takeru sat in was the hum of machinery and the click-clack of keys as his fingers flew over the keyboard. If not for his eyes roving back and forth through lines after lines of information, Takeru was almost completely still in his seat as he worked.

Throughout the many months he’d been traveling back and forth between the three different countries, he hadn’t had a good chance to just sit down and evaluate the state of the Ouvara Police Station’s systems. They were... passable.

Mentally, Takeru made a note to stop by the precinct in Danon to update their systems as well as he navigated through logs of activity and bypassed security that he was working on buffing up on a second computer, his own programs running on the screens behind him.

A ping caught his attention and Takeru furrowed his brow, clicking away from the lists of personnel he’d been scrutinizing and to the log report for some older files that had been kept under minimum security. They’d been accessed recently from an unknown source...

Dragging the window to a free screen, Takeru swiveled his chair to face the new screen. It wouldn’t be too hard to just trace the leftover footprints back to - ahh. Interesting.

Eye narrowing, Takeru had to pick his way carefully back, retracing the steps that the hacker - for he was sure it was a hacker with how carefully they’d tried to mask their moves - and figuring out which paths were red herrings and which ones were real.

He had begun recognizing signs of the other hacker’s signatures when a louder ping interrupted his work from his program.

A breach.

Lips curling up into a smirk, Takeru picked up his keyboard and mouse, turning to face the screens running some of his personal security programs. Setting down his externals, he rolled his shoulders before clicking away the warning.

Time to see how persistent hackers in this city could be.
