Yoru doesn't know Shionne, but she's offering her a boat of Takoyaki & hoping the current topic of discussion floats away lol

How odd to be offered... such a strange food. She didn't know what it was or if it was okay to eat. So, despite accepting it, the takoyaki is being poked at.

"...Is this safe to eat? I've never seen anything like it before."

"Um, excuse me..." There was a small cough to catch the other woman's attention, but it was a throat-clearing cough. She felt it was rude, but she was told to do that, so..

Holding her book close to her chest, she continued. "You and I were... told to go to the back f-for... um, assessment, I think? I'm sorry to trouble you about it, but could... could you come with me?"

"...Well, if you see them again.. c-could you tell them th-thank you? I'm... sure Yonah will like some candy... She's been really ill lately, you see...." It was really bad today, which was why they were home and not out looking for more Sealed Verses to heal her illness.

The courier wanted a break? There wasn't anything stopping her from joining Shionne on her break, so she willingly allowed the other to sit near her.

"Kiana? That's... that's a pretty name. You already know mine, but..."

There was a pause as she looked over towards the chickens that were clucking about, pecking at the ground. Setting the box of candy aside, she got up briefly to get the chicken feed from the nearby bag and tossed a couple handfuls towards them, which they happily went to enjoy. Dusting off her hands, she went to sit back down and put the box on her lap.

"A... royal knight?" Those usually existed in fairytales but, given the girl's look, it wasn't too farfetched to believe that she'd been one before. "I'm.. just a normal girl in comparison. B-besides being able to use the Sealed Verses thanks to Grimoire Weiss, but... That's about all I'm useful for, haha."

She waved a hand. "Sorry. Strange habit I don't know where I picked up..."

"O-oh, um..." Shionne fidgeted with the end of her scarf, nervousness practically exuding from the poor girl's every movement. She didn't know what to say in such a situation-- where she'd accidentally run into someone.

What was it that she was told? Oh!

"I-I'm sorry.. V-very, very sorry.... I was too focused on my, um, destination..." That was the worst. "I-I didn't hurt you, did I?"

She really needed to learn how to say it without stuttering.

"....." She just stares at the people who're talking about Santa. She didn't even know what a Santa was, so she couldn't join in on talking about what or who said Santa was.

She feels very awkward.

“H-hey, what’s wrong? Why are you crying…?” They still didn’t suspect Shionne yet.

She's still sobbing. It takes a moment, but out of her bag comes a very strange-looking book that starts to talk.

"Now see here! The cake that you left was eaten by another charlatan! The one that Shionne ate was right beside the one. And anyway, she knows how to read! A sign would deter her from taking your cake."

All Shionne could do was nod in agreement to what the book had said. After all, she couldn't really talk right now.

Yes, my cake was there, on that table! I even put a sign that said ‘Do not eat’, and someone ate it! Which horrible person has done it?!

Horrible?

A flash- a memory wherein she was struck and knocked down, called a horrible human being. A waste of human flesh and blood. Shionne clutched at her head, tears coming to her eyes.

She started to cry, triggered by the memory that had come, unbidden. Whimpering apologies. For what? Yeah, she did eat a cake, but that was the unmarked cake! She'd been busy eating it so this person's cake had been absconded with.

She couldn't even think anymore. It was a different cake. She knew how to read, so she didn't even touch that cake... It wasn't her fault.. It wasn't.

But there she was, sobbing and apologizing despite her not being at fault.
