Even with the war over there was no rest. Kaidan had hoped to continue working on the ground, searching survivors and maybe be able to visit home to spend time with his mother. Instead he was called in because he was Spectre which meant this was the second time a small part of him regretted taking the damn job. First having practically a mexican standoff with Shepard only to end up shooting Councillor Udina and now he was called away from home when it needed help the most. As the nearest Spectre they wanted him to lead a few teams to secure the Citadel and provide information to rescue teams for any survivors they might encounter.
Some of his biotics students were enlisted, biotics being the most useful in the conditions they’d be looking at. Hackett briefed him on the Normandy before he headed to another ship where he’d meet the rest. What he didn’t expect was the remaining Council put him on a similar task that had begun the whole mess with Saren and the Reapers. Even though they acknowledged Kaidan was very new he was to assess another human for a Spectre position since the priority of Specters and Council members for now would be their own home systems and humans only had one Spectre and no Councillor. He wasn’t happy about anything at the moment so he didn’t see it as a problem to have even more work. Reaching the SSV Romanov near the Citadel he boarded the ship with his team so the Normandy could return to other work assigned to it.
As much as he was somewhat fed up he didn’t spare in the formalities and when meeting the captain he stood in attention and saluted her, “Captain. Council Spectre Major Kaidan Alenko at your service. Permission to board the ship?”
