anywhooo. our story follows saiorse, a former romance novelist, before one day, a mysterious virus overtakes the planet, consuming all of humanity into the eternal bliss of their alien hivemind— a hivemind which supposedly does not have any name to call itself, but which the seven survivors on earth who are immune eventually refer to as the joy virus.

and then—lo and behold, the hivemind offers saiorse a possessed and assimilated human, formerly known as jaya, to serve as her chaperone. just the implications of her existence are deeply unsettling, but...saiorse can't help but be drawn to her. and the hivemind, likewise, seems hellbent on assimilating this miserable woman into it as well, affectionately calling her sadness.

is their love even real? how real could it even get, when all the virus really wants is to consume, to steal away saiorse's individuality in the name of spreading happiness, of the "greater good"...?

but...is that really all the virus wants? or is it capable of learning the painfully human act of love...? only time can tell...

• she/he transfem lesbian (? there's a bi clarisse headcanon here so) + gray-ace, some flavor of nonbinary but i'm not so sure if she'd use too many micro labels ?

• i always imagine her with bandannas or headwraps to keep her hair out of her face !!

•sleeveless denim jacket that she never takes off unless she's training/wearing armor

• her weapons (even the training weapons she uses) are very well taken care of and well loved, contrary to popular belief in camp

• always lightly smacks campers that train without protective gear on the head. does she always follow this rule ? that's none of anyone's business. but newcomers will NOT be sparring without armor on under her watch

• percy and her have an "are they good friends that just bicker or do they fr hate each other" relationship after they actually become friends so the first one is the correct one but new campers get confused

• likes annabeth's company, they find talking to each other very easy & they're always sat next to each other in councelor meetings

• spars with nico sometimes !! they started as a slightly strange duo, but they bicker and have fun & enjoy each other's fighting styles, both take it a little bit as a challenge every time

• i'm a HUGE will & clarisse siblingship truther. with how many times she's over at the infirmary and how much she picks on will for not being super good at combat they just kinda become friends (to everyone's surprise) after that that's just her annoying little brother lol

• in addition: makes fun of will's cargo shorts but she'd also wear them. she actually pulls it off tho

• starts growing her hair out a little after her gender realization (postponed because of her unintentionally internalizing ares' misogyny) and silena and her try new hairstyles together 🫶🫶
