Kinsey knew if anyone needed a break from Redwood already this early into the school year, it was Cat. The poor girl was already facing so much emotional heartache thanks to dear Andy, So, Kin was recovering and basically picking up the mess the male had left behind. Cat hadn’t been right since the breakup, and if Kinsey knew anything, it was how to give Cat a pick me up. Mani & Pedi’s, Lunch, and a shopping day. Kinsey’s eyes scanned the nail salon wall of all the different colors, “What do you think of this but maybe with a matte over top?” she asked picking up a baby pink.

In all that had happened, there was still one thing about Callum’s death that needed to be addressed. His killer. Jax had been nothing short of shocked to hear that Cat had been responsible for the man’s death, and immediately a sense of betrayal had flit through him, similar to the feelings that had erupted in him when Cat has carried out the Cult’s task on himself. He was less collected than usual, the grief of losing his brother, Callum, and Fergus pooling in him and making it harder to stay composed, especially in the face of his sister after he’d sought her out. Without any sort of salutation he barged right into the heart of the matter, hard eyes staring at Cat. “So you’ve taken to killing our brothers in arms now?”

Kitty Got Claws || Cat & Jax

The more he thought about— the more convinced Jax had become convinced that Cat had intentionally, for lack of a better word, poisoned him. And he’d thought about it plenty since waking up in the New Rome Hospital. Nonetheless, the post script attached to her present had all but confirmed it. But the question remained as to why. The only blessing that came from her betrayal was that she had acted after he’d completed his Cult task. But still— why? Had she meant to try and kill him? Was him being Jefferson’s favorite truly that insufferable? Not to mention it wasn’t Jax’s fault that their father had looked over her. He hadn’t asked their father to be as sexist as they come. Needing answers were what brought him to the door of their shared office, and he entered without bothering to knock. It was his office too. 

He knew Cat’s schedule like the back of his hand, and he’d known she would be here at this hour. Jax took only a few steps into the office before crossing his arms over his chest in a show of his bubbling anger, his stance wide, and the stony mask he often wore when interrogating people taking hold of his features. He’d never used it directed towards his sister before, but then again his sister had never poisoned him before. With no trace of emotion on his face, he spoke in a tight tone to his sister’s figure. “So. I’m waiting. I’m not sure you- what was it you wrote? ‘Deserve a chance to explain.’ But go ahead. Give it a shot.”
