GENERAL

NAME: Janus “Magus” Zeal TITLES: Demon King, Fiendlord, Magus, Prince of Zeal, The Shadow Walker, Magil of the Shadows. AGE: 40 ETHNICITY: Enlightened Zealian NATIONALITY: Kingdom of Zeal SPECIES: Human GENDER: Male ORIENTATION: Unknown, will very seldom be sexually attracted to anyone but feels little desire to act upon it. So far such instances have been on women, but this can change. PROFESSION: Wandering traveler, wizard. Formerly warlord.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS

BODY TYPE: Lean and muscular, but not as buff as Akira Toriyama puts him to be. EYES: Red, formerly light green. HAIR: Sky/Periwinkle blue SKIN: Deathly pale, possibly almost gray-ish in some lighting, HEIGHT: 6′0 (183 cm) WEIGHT: 190 (86kg)

FAMILY

SIGNIFICANT OTHER: None established so far, but he would wish to open up the opportunity to Lucca. CHILD(REN): None, doesn’t plan on any. SIBLINGS: Schala, his sister whom is the most important person in the world to him. PARENTS: The last king and queen of Zeal. His father died when he was very young, most likely due to murder for political reasons. When his mother was in mourning she became desperate and Lavos reached out to her. She had the Mammon Machine constructed to tap into Lavos’s power, and Lavos touched her mind, rendering her a mad servitor of Lavos. ANY PETS? Alfador, his pet purple cat, whom I headcanon is both calico spotted and tabby with light purple fur and darker purple for the spotted tabby areas. Alfador was likely given to him as a gift from Schala because he was often alone much of the time. Alfador survived the fall of Zeal and was found in Algetty later. After aiding in the defeat of Lavos, Magus returned to his home time to pick up Alfador.

SKILLS

PHYSICAL PROWESS: Magus can fight with a hugeass scythe, he has been taught to not rely on magic to fight, so since his time with the mystics, he has been training in melee combat. This helps because many of his combat spells are area of affect attacks and drain a lot of MP. SPEED: He uses magic to evade, sometimes teleporting short distances behind enemies or cover. So it’s unknown how fast he really is without magic. I’d say fairly fast for effective melee combat. EDUCATION: Probably had very good magic education back in Zeal, despite others believing at the time that he had no magic. Trained with the mystics in both physical combat and magic, though I headcanon the mystics’s style of magic was more survival, combat, practical purposes while Zealian magic was more about exploration, dreams, wishes, higher consciousness, and getting mundane needs and tasks out of the way.

LIKES

COLORS: Royal/ultramarine blue, red, tyrian purple, gold, black. SMELLS: Damp rock, the air during a thunderstorm, woody fragrances, blood, cat fur. FOOD: Savory foods, like cheese and meat, salty foods like salted nuts, popcorn, etc. also dark chocolate. DRINKS: Red wine, but may try something harder when around Crono or Faris. Also likes black tea, dark hot chocolate, and coffee.

OTHER DETAILS

SMOKES? Never has, Never will. DRUGS? No. DRIVER LICENSE? No, in worlds where this is needed he has to get someone to drive him around, but if he does learn he might get a magic fake ID or something. EVER BEEN ARRESTED? Not in his world, but in some other worlds he might have gotten into some crappy jail with Crono and/or Faris and then broken out easily.

I'd say he has elements of both, like a Time Lord that has a Spark. He does seem to lean more towards Planeswalker though, given his inter world travel seems to be portals, and the Epoch isn't bigger on the inside.

It amuses me that the first time you see Magus as a child, he was being one of those creepy children like in horror movies.

{I might make a ref sheet for dragon!Magus. However still not sure about his body type. How is this? Does it seem like he is bipedal but can walk on all fours if he wanted to crawl in crampt caves? Should he be quadruped or have a more theropod-like body? I wanted something a bipedal but still sinuous like the way the old dragons in medieval art are depicted. It’s hard to find reference for this type of body since most bipedal dragons aren’t very sinuous and most sinuous dragons are quadruped. Fortunately the artist who draws for Flight Rising (Jessica Peffer) has done some dragons that are both sinuous and bipedal, or semi-bipedal.}
