Red Alert couldn’t trust anyone to run the nightly security detail at the Oceanic Museum in Slateport where he was Head of Security. There had been some nonsense a while back with Team Aqua or Magma or whatever. It didn’t really matter what group of clowns it was, Red hadn’t been there and he’d been beating himself up about it so he took to doing the night shift himself. Usually they’d post some poor newbie, and well, that poor newbie was useless in that situation.
So he’d do it himself!
Which lead to his current scenario of seeing someone skirting around on the monitors, but for some reason they couldn’t quite pick them up. Clearly, he’d have to go check himself. His usual partner, a Sylveon (aptly named Doom), had been resting. It still hadn’t adjusted to the night shift and Red wasn’t going to force it. Of course the lack of the Pokemon perching on his shoulders and providing some much needed soothing comfort lead to the security director being his normal amount of anxious, jumping at the unfamiliar shadows of the new exhibit they had just opened. A good hour provided nothing for his search, and with a considerable amount of self assurance, Red decided it was just him being too tired and there was nothing.
It was as soon as he got to the back to the security office that something was amiss. He always made sure to keep the door closed, even if it was unlocked; the door was now wide open. A hand tentatively went and grabbed one of the Pokeballs hanging from his clip, flashlight in the other hand as he slowly walked into the room. There was a distinct sound of...eating?
Where Doom’s food bowl was kept out, was what appeared to be a small child. She was hunched over, eating from it, which only raised question marks instead of exclamation points. Doom, still asleep peacefully, didn’t seem to mind.
“Hey. Excuse me.” He took a step closer, a bit less tense. A hungry child wasn’t something to be scared of, right?
