Let me clarify the guilt sherry feels isn’t because of her parents doings.

in a short story i think? she was blamed by people in village and she yelled it was all her fault. that’s the experience that made her believe it was indeed her fault and she has to correct it. which lead to everything i have said before regarding her motivation and all.

her parents were dead , they were another victim that night and she had witnessed it all.

I’m using it as reference , she has probably faced something similar somewhere even if not in the short story as it differs from canon. . or maybe can assume she was separated from leon for sometime and had met those people and that experience happened before she’s back with him

i got question about what is sherry normal life like prior to be agent , upbringing and daily life outside of the horror

sherry mind focus at one thing immensely is part of how she lived through everything. she isn’t like normal people since young age. before the tragedy she was introverted child due to how her parents weren’t around to help her be social better. she is more of in home activities type. while she tried to join groups at school her parents reputation made it difficult to bond. the other kids parents would tell them not to approach her and some of her peers just didn’t like her because how straightforward she was. sherry is naturally imaginative child. so often she would ask forward questions that normally shouldn’t be asked too soon. or just sounds odd. so overall she struggled. but she is a positive child. her parents taught her to be independent and she used this to live just fine through school and home. the only close people to her were her family. sherry grown up to feel detached, she doesn’t feel the loss of her parents until late in age .

during her teens ( being in custody for 11 years since the age of 12 ) she become more aware of relationships and care. love everything that’s normal to feel in first hand because of claire stories and presence. she was overall detached from anything else. simmon the scientists. they were like drinking water to her. something she just needs to pass the day with. just like how she went through school and being home alone. so yes sherry wasn’t as affected by it as how normally it should be. because she was already focusing at claire presence in her life. similar to how her parents were also her goals

her daily life was all about work when she started to work. another thing to focus at and she had keep it for almost 12 years! only around 33 of age has she began to be more loose. find make up a necessary to do , give herself breaks for hobbies and places, even read some romance but little to make herself aware. imagine her own family if made one. exploring her sexuality. and a lot of normal things. she’s more stable now to just try everything outside of work. she is still introverted her circle is small but she is doing much better herself.

sherry idea of work at first was ‘ i was placed under the good side . so I’m doing good. ‘ but when she discovered she is not she was speechless. yeah it is not about simmon directly. she knows he is a piece of shit. but she had lived for long under the idea that this was good side no matter what. why would they protect her and keep her live as normal as possible otherwise? it is then that she began to doubt people. she never doubted her parents even after everything they loved her and she knew they didn’t meant her harm even if she was injected by her own father hands. to her, her parents were working in good case that just went wrong. she’s an example

the self sufficient is a characteristic she has as appear unaffected by social difficulty due to significant effort and work to calculate social expectations and high level of masking. let’s break down sherry attitude and how it does shape her life.

focused and dedicated interests : ever since she was young, she had a type of obsession to keep her going daily from fixated interest to what stand most is in parental figures. sherry dialogues / thoughts were mostly about her family and the ending were her immediate thinking of claire and leon as family with many of her child fantasies told all the way. as she grows this focus turns to be like claire and keep claire as constant thought to hold onto. I guess I’m still just trying to live up up to their example

repeated movements and behavior : there was definitely a pattern seen in re6 too. wrap arms around herself / rubs her arms / sits curled / knee to chest / hold someone hand. / bite her lips. those something that are constant no environment changed.

preference for order or routine : she needs object in possession to feel calm and collected, the necklace, in the novel she found herself a routine to pass the days and tried not to break it. there was the routine of message claire as well.

my own hc also follow this order and routine in many things as well as have different fixation that heavily impact her daily life.

she struggles to make friends and still does. makes her awkward in no professional settings. socially not the best with people her age and even younger ones. awkward , and i mean it in the sense they want to be actual friends and do friends things. not just a simple passer by type of interaction or when her mind isn’t prioritize something bigger. how hard it is depends on the initial encounter though !

i think i’d love to move sherry ( especially near her 40 ) from the good obedient hero personality. she no longer would allow others to control what she does and how she does it for her safety or their own ego or even greater good. she’d do the goodness her own way. the way that she feels is right for her.

it is all an accumulation of what she faced and learned. it started with the mess that impacted her in edonia, had made her think twice of what she could have done better. yeah she is not forgotten piers loss, neither her performance there. also with claire influence and how she lead her missions. she had talk with claire about it. which did change her mind the most to know how does claire deal with not be able to save everyone. or how could she make not ideal choice. one that sounds less likely to save or work

sherry grown up untrusty of her superiors and higher ups after what happens with simmons & the whole rescue mission in edonia . that lead her to choose information tech / system , coding / hacking & some knowledge in software program as major and another field. supported by the knowledge she had already studied when in custody along two years training program for combat. that did not change her participation in field missions. however. she is specialized in find target ( object ) and rescue . as it aligned with her goal to protect and not allow more victims. her second major also support that vision ! . she has her own system for personal work to not be spotted by dso if needed.

hence her shadow title. her skills are considered average when it come to combat. she has talent for handling weapons though above average! but not enough fitness which lower the score. her mindset set in taking advantage of her power does not make her bother with being in shape much. not like the others. if you think she’s doing well most of the time ? that’s because of her ability hiding the truth.

coccyx : pretty much sherry is ball of outdated beliefs and ones she had build herself to be. but those beliefs only apply to herself. whenever she is with others she’d try to go their way if comfortable. i could always add a belief anytime but. one of her comfort beliefs; sword is better than gun. that’s why she become professional in handling a baton. the closest to sword she could carry. another is paper better than digital . you’d see shelfs of books and papers almost everywhere in her house. yes she even prefers goes by paper maps around. jazz , single instrument music > any other music. she’d argue even. but now you know where to take her.

femur : sense of goodness , sherry is always driven by her sixth sense do good. you’ve survived to use this life to help. this mindset settled after being in custody and seemingly endless experiments . some night from her custody years she would ask claire why is this happening to me and while claire answers were more of the reassuring type. she was influenced by claire presence that helped her and found herself turns any opportunity positively. the tests were way to know her body better, the job was chance to assist and save. any encounter if not antagonist is always a chance to help. even when infected that did not stop her from being a part of the process. sherry had build herself to move forward there’s no stop or backward.
