Dating websites were.... difficult. Like super difficult. It wasn’t easy like speed dating. No. There were whole personas that people put on; herself included. Why in the world would she let strangers on the internet know that it’d been far too long since she’d been single and she’d forgotten how dating worked? It was much easier to be flirty and fun with someone on the internet. But the thing about the internet? The other person could be that way too and there was no real way of knowing.
Unless, of course, you agreed to meet them in person.
Which is exactly what Tink agreed to. A stupid decision really as she wasn’t sure what she was getting into. She’d been too much for Sophie most of the time, too much for herself sometimes too. What if she was too much for this guy? A guy. She hadn’t dated a man in... well, years, honestly. It was a wild thought. But he was attractive and funny and they’d spent a couple of nights out of the week staying up way too late to talk.
So she’d put on her cut off shorts and tank-top (it was entirely too hot to be uncomfortable and sexy looking) and paired them with her favorite entirely too worn out trainers and headed to Hatter’s. Her nerves ate at her the entire way there. Multiple times she debated just turning around and going back to her’s and Peri’s flat. It would be easier. She couldn’t be disappointed there. But she needed this. Needed to get back on her feet, so to speak. There was no more time for pining over things that weren’t anymore.
With all that bravado and all her pep talks, she marched into Hatter’s; her eyes scanning the shoppe before she spotted a head of hair that looked familiar. “Sorry m’late, love,” she grinned as she slipped into the seat opposite him. It didn’t occur to her to look at the papers scattered slightly across the table or the fact that he looked a wee bit older than the guy she’d been talking to but... Well, at least it wasn’t a total catfish. “Hopefully I didn’t keep you waiting too long, yeah?”
