correcting people whenever they try to use your first name: just call me derrick. disinterested shrugs. automatic snark. only trying out for the quidditch team because your father expected you to ( and it’s not like you’re particularly good at anything else ). smashing empty bottles on the ground in triumph. acting like you just don’t care, like you aren’t screaming on the inside. barely scraping by in your classes. spending all your pocket money on fireworks. a love for drawing that you keep hidden. no idea what you want, or where you’re going once all this is over.
lucian bole → they’ve been your best friend since day one, always next to each other at meals and in classes and, eventually, on the quidditch pitch. you’ve garnered a reputation as the biggest partiers in your year, your common room “dungeon parties” becoming infamous for their revelry. it was actually during your first party of sixth year that you kissed lucian for the first time, alcohol on your breaths during a game of spin the bottle. since then, it’s become a bit of a habit to kiss ( and do more than kiss ) when you’re both drunk... but it’s platonic, of course. just as mates.
kajal bhatt → your families have known each other for ages, meaning you and kajal pretty much grew up together. they get to see a side of you that you don’t show many people ( and they’re the only person at school whom you allow to call you perry ). you’re well aware that slytherins and gryffindors are supposed to be rivals, but you don’t mind everyone knowing that you and kajal are friends. the two of you have a natural, easy sort of closeness, and it’s one you’re grateful for. sometimes it’s nice to hang around someone who gets up to even crazier antics than you do.
cedric diggory → you suppose everyone needs a good rival. it started in fourth year, when you sent a bludger right into cedric’s face just as they were about to catch the snitch, allowing your seeker to catch up to them and win the match for slytherin. alright, maybe you didn’t need to mock cedric’s broken nose after, but they can’t blame you for being high off your victory. you’ve been the bitterest sort of enemies since then --- and perhaps it’s made you quite unpopular with the hufflepuffs, but you don’t care. someone needs to knock diggory off their golden high horse every once in a while.
