The days of Carramba's Grill $5 Margaritas are long gone. Carramba's Grill served the strongest $5 margaritas in our area.
Carramba's was a small Tex-Mex grill tucked away in a strip mall. The food was good, the service was friendly, the jukebox was full of profanity-laden Musica Regional. Carramba's turned into THE party place for me and my friends. I trip to Carramba's was the perfect way to start Drunk Movie Tuesdays at the multiplex nearby.
I don't think Andres (bartender and co-owner) ever thought his drinks would someday become legendary. One or two drinks would make even the most ardent booze-hound stagger and laugh at stupid shit. I often wondered what made his drinks so different. Maybe it was the rotgut tequila, maybe it was the mix. One day I watched him make our drinks and I was able to clearly see his margarita mix. I didn't recognize the bottle, I had never seen it in any store...but I remembered it. Today, I had a vision that the exact mix was sold in a store in the next county. Tomorrow, I will drive there to see if they have it. Then maybe I can replicate the elusive, Carramba's Grill $5 Margarita.
