He took a bite of the croissant. It was exactly what he needed. “Are you a mind reader?” He asked with fake suspicion in his voice. He looked her up and down as if he was searching for some kind of secret. “You always seem to stop by exactly when I need a break.” He was glad to get away from his desk and the work that was piling up. He thought he was good at his job until he became a detective in Grimmbrook. He seemed to have more open cases than closed ones, cases that he was nowhere near solving. This fact weighed on him all day long, every day. It only made him want to work harder.
