background.
born somewhere around the turn of the eighth and ninth centuries, the dreadful name of “witch” has haunted jane since birth. jane entered the world mere minutes before alec, completely silent and with a heartbeat so faint that the midwife had first declared her dead. her first cry came only after her twin was born. it should have been a miracle. the midwife called it witchcraft. the dark ages were unkind to the twins. after being caught amidst one too many inexplicable events, their small village turned against them. jane remembers little from this period of her life — her childhood memories hazy and blurred around the edges. the one thing that still clings to her, despite all the years, is the very first spark. a fiery rage was taking root inside of her. the very same rage that would one day consume her. years later, the twins’ savior comes in the form of an ancient being, seemingly older than time itself. she does not comprehend what happens then — all she can feel is pain. pain from the skin-biting restraints tying her to the stake ; pain from the fire lapping at her feet ; and, finally, pain from the venom scorching through her veins. jane’s life truly begins when she opens her crimson eyes. her newfound gift manifests her lifelong anger and pain into debilitating agony for others — an agony so strong that it brings down an enitre romanian army. standing alongside her twin, she effortlessly climbs the ranks of the prestigious volturi guard. it is a position she takes seriously, and further, it is one that grants jane the power and authority she’s always craved.
personality.
POSITIVE. devoted, astute, venturesome, dutiful. NEGATIVE. merciless, envious, haughty, mercurial, dogmatic.
jane is unwavering in her devotion : first to alec, second to aro, and third to the volturi as a whole. as for everyone else ? well, frankly, she couldn’t care less. everyone else is beneath her, and she’ll make damn sure they know it.
she firmly believes in maintaining order and that fear is the most effective way to achieve said order. she is always the first to volunteer for a volturi mission — partially as an excuse to use her powers, and partially to prove her worth.
despite her seemingly aloof air of confidence, jane is frequently jealous of others. she likes being the center of attention and likes being one of the volturi’s most prized members. she doesn’t take well to people infringing on what’s hers.
she’s extremely quick to anger, and her natural instinct is to incite pain. ( she’s trying to keep that in check in forks tho — aka i won’t write that onto your character unless you give me permission to ! )

secretly fascinated by history and the morbidity of human nature. seeing how humans treat each other ( and how they used to treat her and alec ) justifies her own cruelty as a vampire, in some roundabout way.
very picky eater, both in her choice of victims and how she hunts. also, won’t feed on anyone she’s recently used her powers on. ( “it ruins the taste :/” )

someone who she can use ( and has used ) her powers on, yet they don’t seem terrified of her like everyone else. like wtf.
an oblivious human — or maybe not so oblivious human — that keeps talking to her. to avoid raising suspicion in forks, she isn’t allowed to kill / hurt them. maybe they caught her playing their fav instrument and were interested, maybe she let slip some history fact that seemed a little too specific, etc. etc.
someone she ran into on her volturi travels. maybe they were the ones to break a rule and she was the one to serve punishment, maybe they interfered in some way, maybe they just bumped into one another, etc.
someone jane has somehow developed the most minuscule of cruses on, and she fucking despises them for it. ( doesn’t have to be requited whatsoever )
