Ozen the Matchmaker

Cont. from [x]
“M-Marry? Don’t you think you’re getting a little ahead of yourself there, Immovable One!?”
Who did she think she was? His Mother?
Jirou had no idea who his mother was. In fact, it would be quite reasonable to assume that it was possible Ozen was in fact his Mother.
But he dared not spend too much time on that thought.
“No, I don’t.” Ozen scooted forward, and placed her hands on his shoulders in case he wanted to run. “You’re at a marriageable age. So is my apprentice. And you have both studied under a White Whistle. Thus, you can best relate to each other.”
“I will set up a date for you.” Ozen petted the boy on the head, and stroked his hair. “That’s what youngsters nowadays like to do, correct? Dates? Now, during your date, make sure to never inquire about her family or her background. Comment on how pretty she is. Ask about her work. Don’t mention me either. In fact, pretend I don’t exist at all. And never, under any circumstance, broach the subject of Lyza or even bring up her name. Actually, just stick to talking about yourself. You can tell her about your job at the orphanage. That will show her you are a caring, fatherly man. That’s what maidens like, isn’t it? I wouldn’t really know. I’ve never been a maiden.”
