TJ strolled over to his fellow officer, shaking his head. "Why have people started coming up with the idea I hate dogs?" He was puzzled by the misconceptions that floated around the station. Was it because he was signed up to the OEA? He had to continue to remind them that it was not his own doing.

TJ often spent his off-duty hours by the K9 unit, making sure their fluffy companions were looked after and cared for, even though it was not his department. "Is it because I'm always asking one of your lot to look after mine?" He couldn't help it; sometimes it was a struggle to get a dog sitter with his whack hours.

Novia had easily settled into her new profession at DeadLift gym. She had always enjoyed swimming and gaining the necessary licenses were not at all difficult. Though it was her first week, almost every shift thus far had consisted of a swim class. Today, a group of children were splashing around in the shallow end near the end of a lesson. 

One child, Benjamin was sat on Novia’s hip. He had gotten a little flustered and she comforted him while watching the others from the edge of the pool. “It’s alright to be scared Benny. We can try again next week.” She carefully wiped a tear from his wet cheek as the doors to the pool hall opened. 

“I’m sorry, we’ll be open in another ten minutes when the kids are done with their lesson.” She called before shifting her attention from the boy to the person who entered. Novia’s breath caught as she recognized beautiful blonde locks bouncing with the woman’s every step. The memory of the day she left her behind was painful. She never expected to see her again. “Mackenzie?”
