Riding on the Wind: bumper edition (had to go 3 eps with NO Yan Yikuan but that was probably about 30mins screen time so I managed to power through)
ep.5: ..........backstory and no Emperor (feat. one old mentor who's a day away from retirement and one dead brother who's being used for plot motivation)
ep.6: Ximeng is told to focus on painting (not secret revenge) and the camera zooms in on his face ominously. Then he goes to do just that:
so far his Special Technique is:
painting while holding another brush in his mouth
........which I'm not sure is going to cut it compared to the others. Maybe it's enough to get his foot in the door though?
oh no wait, he's been kidnapped by villains. (It's the mean painters from episode one!) They threaten him with a needle in a paintbrush..... END CREDITS
Ep.7: The Meanest Painter has his own painting technique:

I'd argue this is a little extreme. They also rip up Ximeng's work - what will he hand in now?? Luckily he unlocks a new special painting technique:
painting with his own blood
It seems to work! We see an old man nodding approvingly and the mean painters look dismayed by his artistic vision.
Ep.8: Oh thanks goodness, we're BACK
He likes the blood painting!!
Ximeng has a slow-motion dream about meeting the Emperor to fuck, marry, kill him.
.....and then he gets to wake up to this Vision:
.......who offers to be his sugar daddy.
The medicine he was given works so well it now just looks like he has a flower drawn on his face, miraculous!
He gets kidnapped again by mean painters who give him a sinister sounding choice to do....something (it's not entirely clear so I'll just assume it's bad and potentially painful) TBC
