You should give a listen to Caroline Shaw’s piece To The Hands (and read the program notes!) It is an excellent choral work that touches on immigration and displacement in the most hauntingly beautiful way. ALSO if you want choral music on celestial topics listen to Tarik O’Regan’s The Ecstasies Above. It’s one of my favorite pieces of all time.
okay, so, confession: despite my firm advocacy of choral pieces with lyrics about space flight and other natural majestic things, I cannot for the life of me ever understand choral lyrics while listening to them. Possible exception if I know the words already, but even then. And it’s...not even my favorite genre of music. I tend to like things with, um, clever lyrics that I can hear.
