For me the lack of Japanese in 10 Dance felt very deliberate. I've seen a couple of posts complaining about it, but in my eyes it's a direct representation of how the two characters were raised and are currently living.

Sugiki was raised in England. Suzuki was raised in Cuba. Both are still primarily living within those cultures even if they now live in Japan. They've assimilated to those cultures, that's what they know and are comfortable with. The only area where that doesn't work however is their appearance.

They cannot win the championships because they are visibly Asian. Neither of the dances they are partaking in are Asian so the dance community is racially prejudiced against them. Even they buy into that a bit as seen by how neither Sugiki and Suzuki have Japanese people in their makeup/hair stylist team. That's a concious or unconcious choice on their part layered with the belief that the best artists for the dance forms cannot be Japanese.

It is a clear representation of Asian diaspora trying to assimilate to the culture they have immigrated to, but unable to runaway from the fact that despite everything they do they can't escape their appearance which visibly marks them as the Other.

The lack of Japanese culture, Japanese people aside from the central characters, and settings in Japan that feel like it could have been shot anywhere really hit that sentiment home for me.
