Jokes aside, here's why Twitch,Thrash (and possibly the young trio - Jawbreaker, Hashtag and Nightshade) are important to lore:

All these youngster are made by Quintus prime (in case someone doesn't believe me, rewatch the episode, you can clearly hear a serious voice inside that cave, aka Quintus prime speaking) and as we all know he’s part of 13th primes, who are almost like siblings (well, at most, because we can actually hear Optimus often calling Megatron his brother!). But geniuely they are still close, even if you don't like calling them all ’’siblings’’. 

Shortly said: Twitch,Thrash (and possibly trio too) are basically like nephews and nieces of 13th primes or like second generation. So yeah, they ARE important to lore btw
