Thoughts: Ja-sung vs Ji-ho (18 again)

Why?

Okay first. I’m not trying to antagonize Ja sung here or anything, But I have my reasons for not choosing him. 

Well usually, the bad boy type (Ja sung) will win over the childhood friend (Ji ho). It’s just the motive in a lot of drama/film, especially in shoujo manga.

So, hear me out. 

Do I like bad boy? Yes. I like them. But ofc in cases where the ‘bad boy’ is only the appearance, but inside, he has a kind heart and ofc has to be cute! :) and yes, Ja sung is definitely the bad boy role between the two of them. But here, Ji ho is not the typical ‘good boy’ role too, isn’t? Usually the other one will be the typical good boy, who usually is not cool at all, don’t have the courage to talk to the girl, don’t have the courage to compete with other guys, usually are discipline and wears uniform neatly. But here.. we saw that Ji ho have several ‘bad boy’ attitude. First, we often saw him not wearing his uniform properly (I don’t know tho if this is normal in korean school). In which, he didn’t button up his shirt, just like Ja sung

Second, he doesn’t get scared at all to talk to Si ah, helping her, even he, who usually is very composed, can lose his composure when Ja sung badmouthed Si ah. In episode 14, we can also see that Ji ho doesn’t think twice to take on (or kick) the high schoolers who pick on Si Ah, but Ji ho doesn’t get all cocky. He knows, and he is a smart boy, so ‘okay Si ah we have to run’. In this scene, okay, ofc Ja sung is cool because he can’t drive out like 4-5 boy? Without punching or kicking them, just by threatening them. I think Ja sung is pretty cool in this scene. He has a lot of guts lol.

Next, sorry, but i’m gonna talk about how Ja sung behaves before he likes Si ah. He bullied Ji ho. Okay, I know he reasons behind it, but I can’t just accept it as it is because bullying is still bullying. We don’t know for how long he has done the bullying, and it can scars Si woo a lot. You know, many bullying victim end up having trauma or depressed.Because his pride was hurt, it doesn’t mean that HE CAN DO EVERYTHING HE WANTS. I can’t justify it. At all.

In several scene it also shown that Ja sung is quite temperamental. Okay, he hates Si woo, but does he has the rights to badmouth Da jung and Si ah? He also tried to stab (which can maybe kill) Ji ho, if he wasn’t stopped by Woo young. Now, we can saw the cute side of Ja sung, isn’t it? but PEOPLE DOES NOT CHANGE OVERNIGHT. Who knows when Si ah chooses him, when he is angry or something he can hit Si ah? Again, I’m not trying to antagonize the Ja sung character here, I just tried to state my opinion.

Next, the funny scene of confession (HAHAHA LOL) XD Well as a girl, I WOULD HATE IT SO MUCH if it happens to me. Like what the heck? Should he really confess to the girl with everyone watching? It will only pressures Si ah to accept him!

In conclusion, Ja sung has no rights whatsoever to be with Si ah. Just because he behaves kind of like Woo young (when Si ah is late), but Ji ho still do his part too you know. He willing to run too even if he is not late.

Ji ho also have the guts to fight Ja sung in here too! XD

Well, in general, I stan Ji ho also because he do kabedon like, 2 times? HAHAHA when he helps Si ah he unintentionally do that but.. IT”S CUTE AS HECK (/// _ ///) I’m so relieved that in eps 14 it shown that Si ah choses Ji ho over Ja sung! Ofc Si ah’s feeling matters, but Ji ho REALLY DESERVE SI AH.

Next in eps 15, I think we can expect more of this uwuness between them, and Ji ho forwardness and awkwardness is something to expect too! XD

Thoughts on 18 again

Anyone here have watched 18 again?

Wow. After a long time watching kdrama that are in the action genre, now I'm watching a comedy genre, a family-related story.

I must say.. WOW. This drama is amazing. Who write the story? Does anyone know? Cuz i think they did a very good job on this one.

Usually, I don't really like a family-centered story, becauseI thought that there would be too much drama in it. But recently, as you guys may realized, that there so many stories whether it's in webtoon or manga, that tell a story about time travel, or may be an isekai genre. I've been interested in those kinda story for a while now, so I decided to watch 18 again.

First thing first. I've been interested in Lee do hyun acting skills since Hotel del Luna. Maybe you guys have watched it too right? (It's an amazing drama btw). He's not all about his looks, isn't it? He has the charm, as well as the aura when he act. I think so far on these 8 episodes, he has been doing pretty well.

It's funny to see the father-daughter relations ship and the father-son relationship, on the 18 years old Hong dae young. I love that this drama has "slap" me a lot, on the fact that a father will do everything to put food on the table. At first, I was wondering why dae young didn't hust pursue his dream as a basketball player, which he is really good at. And maybe his fam can live a happier life? And he will be happier to, right? Doing what he loves. But.. on the recent episodes we saw that Hong dae young was willingly to throw away his dream, because Si woo is sick. At that moment i was like "ah, he needs fast money" i guess. Because even though he is talented, there's no way he can be a pro player in just several weeks right? There will be a long process, maybe 1 year, 2 years, or maybe more. Just like when Ji hoon pursue his dream to become a baseball player. Even reaching the rookie team meeda years to achieved.

Speaking of Ji hoon.. I'm sorry Ji hoon, ut at first I thought that you have an illegitimate child XD hahaha. Well now, I know for sure that you MAYBE are okay for Da jung eonnie. Though.. i would prefer Da jung to get back with Dae young, especially now? She has known his sacrifice, his hard work, working for his loved family. Even until now, when he is back young again, his still still revolve around his family. I love how he love both Si woo and si ah equally. How he look out for both of them, how he give an unbrella to Si ah, but then went back to class juat to put an umbrella on Si woo's table. I love how he wants Si woo to achieve his dream, and I love how he was panicked when he saw Si ah is sick, but acting all tough when he was called by Da jung. With this, somehow i get the reason why husband and wife can argue a lot. A husband usually don't want to pour out their worries, they don't want to look weak in front of their families, not bcs they want to act all high and might, but because a husband wants to be his family's "Safe place"? Where they can depend on him, and where they can hide behind him when they are scared. We noticed that whenever Da jung is worried and can't make decisions, she always want Dae young to guide her on it. When she feels discourage, a few supportive words from Dae young can make her feel she can take on the world again.

But, it's not for the wife PoV. A wife usually wants to share everything with her husband, just as Da jung always do everything openly, and pour her thought openly. That's why, when Da jung found out that Dae young is lying about his work trip, she feel betrayed. Sadly, they only know each other's struggles and sincereness only after they've divorced.

Lastly, the other reason which makes me love this drama is because.. the teenager's struggle are really relatable for me.. as a 20 y.o girl, I have experience their struggle, and even now, i still do. I know how it's much easier to tell someone from your school about your struglle, rather than telling it to your parents. I know our parents would feel betrayed by it, but we just can't tell them. We feel that it would either make their worries added, OR, some parents would just brush it off as some tiny problems. They minimize our struggle. Just like Ja sung's dad, who can't even trust his son nor he cared about his struggles. But, he still came to his match tho, so maybe his dad still care about him after all.. but i wanna know why he chased his wife out of the house tho.. it just not right to do that.

Well anyway, I can say that i feel relatae to Si ah the most, how she kept everything in, how she doesn't want anyone to see her weak side. You know what? Sometimes, after a long, long time, I would suddenly broke down. Why? I don't even know it myself. Bcs i tend to hold everything in, and at some point it accumulates after all. And it explodes. So when I was asked what's made me sad, well i don't know. I don't know which one, which problem that made me like this.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to episode 9! I hope in the end Da jung and Dae young can go back together :)

Thoughts on 18 again: eps 9-10

Finally!! The corruption loop made by the basketball team’s coach is finished. There’s a lot going on in my mind when I watched this episode tho (lol). I think about how il kwon was broken because of his father. How he can succeed as a coach, I mean in my opinion he does LOVE basketball. But his father is the one who made him like that, corrupted.

I'm still extremely sad cuz the fact that il kwon's father, until the very end, until he see HIS OWN SON, behind the bars, looking hopeless but his father still label him as a failure. I mean, il kwon becomes like that because of YOU, dear il kwon's father. He wouldn't be like this if you don't start or join the corruption loop that has been going on there. Yeah, il kwon is a pain in the ass sometimes, but still, he didn't deserve that.

Unto the next, scary event, where Woo young got (or almost?) in a car accident. I don't why, though its not my place too judge, but i wonder. WHY THE HECK HE JUST STAY THERE :") Well though in real life it will happen pretty fast tho so maybe he don't really have the choice to run away or anything, so he can only thinks to at least minimize the danger for the little kid. But still! it's not as heart wrecking as most accident scene that i've seen.

Then again, in episode 10 we can see that Woo young suddenly TURNS INTO DAE YOUNG... As much as i was sad that maybe Lee Do hyun’s role has finished, I was very happy for the fact that Da jung, Si ah, and Si woo come to him, and even hug him. But then.. IT’S ONLY A FREAKIN’ DREAM!!! Oh my gosh, the script writer (+ the rest of the team) sure know how to play with our heart.
