MISSY ELLIOTT PLAYED A PART IN LIL KIM’S 1999 MTV VMAS OUTFIT
Celebrity stylist and designer Misa Hylton is the force behind some of the most notable looks of the 1990s. She’s worked with Faith Evans, Mary J. Blige, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott; artists who are known for their boundary-pushing music and stylistic individuality.
Arguably, Hylton’s best work was Lil Kim’s 1999 MTV VMAs outfit. The breast-baring one piece was the talk of the town in it’s day, with some not knowing what exactly to think of the ensemble. Though it’s now unanimously heralded as a positive, watershed occurrence, people still can’t stop talking about it - Rolling Stone and the Los Angeles Times have published pieces about the defining moment within the last 2 years. It has officially gone down in history as one of Kim’s boldest moments in fashion.
In a talk with the host of The Premium Pete Show, Misa revealed that Missy Elliott actually planted the idea for the outfit in her mind.
“Missy’s mind is fucking off the hook. The things that she comes up with..she’s so.like..she’s so dope. She had ideas for days. And we’re talking and she’s like ‘if I was Kim, I would just say fuck it and just have one of my titties out! And I was like hmm..okay….”

So I forgot BSB performed at the 99 VMAs (I was watching that awesome Britney/NSync mashup) but then I saw it on YouTube and omg the only person who brings that much energy to performances like that today is Beyonce and I'm slightly (only slightly) embarrassed to say that I know that entire dance Imma go watch it again now and God bless AJ and his crop top because he is the only person who could've pulled that shit off 😂😂😂
