I actually did the Bloofer Lady/Vampire Lucy cosplay first, back in mid-October. There's plenty more pics but I think this'll be my last Lucy post for awhile, perhaps til Dracula Daily 2024? (㇏(•̀ᵥᵥ•́)ノ)

For now though, I leave y'all with a breakdown of the costume & shoot below the cut!

- The Prep: The end results were about a year in the making. I read Dracula for the first time through DD in 2022 (well, most of it, fell off round October, but finished it in podcast form this year, thanks re:dracula!) The drama, irony, and tragedy of reading Lucy's September ordeals in real-time especially got me. Cosplay is one of my big creative outlets so I added both pre- and post-vamp Lucy to my cosplans. I wanted to wear an old fashioned-looking nightgown for both looks, and debated whether or not to make one or find something. I started looking into patterns and secondhand sites.

- The Nightgown: Found on ebay, it was listed as "Antique Victorian late 1800s." I'm an amateur at ID'ing vintage & antique garments so I have no idea if it's really that old, but it was in great condition and well made (soft but sturdy, opaque cotton, & short stitch length). It was also the perfect length for me and needed no hemming. Since it's such a nice piece and cost a fair bit, I hope to find more ways to wear it for both cosplay and non-cosplay uses.

- The Wig - an Arda Wigs Lindsay in Dark Copper Red. I LOVE it. (Despite already having many red wigs, none worked for my vision!) I picked red hair for Lucy because a) that's how I picture her in the book, and b) for the *~aesthetic~* & personal preference. I like how I look with red hair.

- The Fangs - "Costume Designer Dracula Fangs" I got at Party City. It took time and patience to make the thermoplastic look neat. They're comfy to wear. I just can't eat or drink in em :(

- The Photoshoot - These were location shoots. I'll save the details of pre-vamp Lucy for a later post, but the vampire photos were taken in the late afternoon in a park-like cemetary. (Fun fact, it's more the other way around - lots of city parks, in the US at least, were inspired by the rural cemetary movement!)

I feel the need to add quick disclaimer/guide: If you're doing a costumed photoshoot in a cemetery, you absolutely need to be conscientious and respectful of others there and the space itself - don't sit or lean on tombstones, do edit out the names, come at a time it's unlikely to be busy, skip or reschedule the shoot if there's an event going on, and before you do any of that, check online if there are any specific rules regarding photography; it can vary from nothing to requiring permits and following specific restrictions.

Finally, I have to add that the photographer, Shana, is wonderful and talented and did an awesome job bringing this all to life!

The transition from 27th September to 28th September is one of my absolute favourite moments of Dracula. It's like:
