it is not our responsibility to control or direct others. allow them their own path, and keep to yours. if the paths meet, fine. if they do not, also fine.

DAILY I CHING: 1/23/13
52. KEEPING STILL (MOUNTAIN) still your emotions through meditation.
first line. it is not a time to move. it is easier to still yourself now than after action has been initiated. remain innocent, quiet, and detached.
second line. there is a great desire to move, but the time is not right. let others do what they will, and hold to stillness and acceptance. this enables the sage to do work.
third line. do attempt to force a good feeling into place. patiently let go of fear, doubt, anger and distrust. the universe aids those who quietly accept the unknown.
fourth line. a heart at rest leads to a mind at rest. deepening your acceptance leads to good fortune.
fifth line. restrain your speech. an active tongue betrays a restless mind. tranquility on every level is advised.
sixth line. perseverance in stillness, in both thought and deep, forms a noble heart. the ultimate fruit of a noble heart is complete peace of mind.
32. DURATION remain steady and allow the world to shape itself.
first line- do no expect too much too soon. that which is worthwhile is created slowly and carefully.
second line- be mindful of machinations of the ego. do not strive, boast or despair. return quickly to inner strength and quietude.
third line- there is danger in being swayed by external circumstances. to measure or compare is to depart from the path and invite misfortune.
fourth line- that which is sought in an incorrect fashion is never obtained. concentrate on your attitude rather than your goals.
fifth line- it is not our responsibility to control or direct others. allow them their own path, and keep to yours. if the paths meet, fine. if they do not, also fine.
sixth line- do not become restless for constant change. allow the universe to work in its own way. ”taking over” brings a fall.

57. THE GENTLE (THE PENETRATION, WIND) consistent correctness turns every situation to your advantage.
first line- you must be as resolute as a warrior against doubt and mistrust. when you can advance in correctness, do so. when you cannot, retreat without hesitation.
second line- a hidden enemy threatens. search your subconscious for negative influences. the aid of a counselor can be beneficial in this.
third line- when your insight penetrates to the source of the problem, do not dwell in it. the ego will become entangled. simply make a correction, and persevere in it.
fourth line- when we are resolutely modest, independent, and correct, our external difficulties magically pass away and success is reassured.
fifth line- the beginning has not been good, but progress is still possible. carefully disengage from bad habits, and remain steadfast in following proper principles. things change for the better.
sixth line- sometimes the inferior enemy cannot be identified. do not struggle, but quietly return to improving yourself. in this way a good result can still be obtained.
