I did @3amsnek​‘s DTIYS of vampire Virgil with little ghosties!!

I saw the prompt image, and it looked adorable and also fun, so I tried it. 

I originally did 3 sketches to make sure I could do it, then took the best sketch to my computer and fixed it up to present this!

Which is probably my best work, and my biggest improvement both in digital art and art in general.

Snazzy boi Perri being a lovely overdramatic child doing something likeee sweeping a floor or painting or anything non traumatic at all ?

Okay this was surprisingly hard, the boi is so traumatized. But anyways, have a soft early morning banter between Perri & Hunter cause they’re soft (cough cough, most of the time, cough). Also I had a very soft time adding the lil hearts to the word bubbles & Perri’s eyes, cause babies!

Doodle something you find relaxing (or just fun) to draw?

A baby Juno for your soul? She is an absolute delight to draw, & I want to hold her & snuggle her & give her the word.

Oh god this was sitting in my inbox for weeks, but I’m certain that Juno is worth it. She baby baby.

Might I suggest she find a hermit crab ?

It was a brief & delicious encounter. Years later, an anxious Mudwing will need intensive therapy after witnessing a young Seawing scarf down a hermit crab nearly the size of their head whole, before tottering off to play with a flock of seagulls (Marigold’s got some pretty weird eating habits for a Seawing her age).

Marigold’s going exploring, what will she find? Drop in an ask for a doodle of a precious child on the hunt for knowledge.

8- what's the most fun and least fun part of my process

While my favorite and least favorite parts can change from peice to peice, I typically LOVE doing the lineart and rendering. I find both relaxing and it's fun to see how the rendering slowly brings a peice together by finishing it!

My least favorite stage is sketching and coloring. Sketching I find to be the most frustrating typically, though I have found ways to rectify it somewhat (using shilloettes and being more okay with being sloppy have really helped though still frustrating). Picking colors is just something I struggle with, I will fudge, pick, regret my choices, overuse layer settings, pick some more, edit, all while being on the verge of crying and giving up and yet it somehow turns out.

10- how many different sketches do you usually have before finishing a peice?

This depends on how familiar I am with the subject matter and how complicated it is. I'm defining a "sketch" as anything I do after thumbnailing to lineart/coloring (if skipping lineart). For things I'm familiar with and is simple 2-3, the first being the rough and focusing more on getting the pose down than anatomy, the second and third passes bring anatomy and minor details like patterning. For subject I'm less familiar with, rough sketches, sketch closely following my references, sketches for stylizing the subject. Complicated peices can easily have like 10+ sketches.

13- how long do you usually take on a peice?

I sadly can't tell you the excat hours, but sketches, flats, and simple shaded peices I can finish in a day or two. My Hatching style can be done in 3, however I'm forcing myself to take longer since it can easily wreck my hand and wrist if I'm not careful. Obviously bigger peices (multiple characters, complicated designs/comps, illustrations, etc.) can take weeks to months
