A Playlist - What We’re Listening To 3/8/2017
Burn Shit Down, it’s International Women’s Day!
It’s International Women’s Day and O-Scope would like to take this opportunity to declare war on sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, inequality, violence against women, segregation, misogyny, racism, and all the rest of the bullshit that keeps women down.
O-Scope has always been punk as fuck, and about half our films are directed by women, so we’d like to offer this playlist as a rallying soundtrack for ladies & allies across the world who aren’t taking any more shit. Arm yourselves with the hard & fast punk anthems from women we love.
Here’s the Musings Gonna Bust Your Lip If You Think You Can Cat-Call Me on International Women’s Day Playlist.
Remember to follow us on Spotify and/or check back here weekly for a new playlist. Be well and if you have any thoughts we’d love to hear them.
The 5.6.7.8's
The 5.6.7.8's
After finally watching "Kill Bill: Volume 1", I just had to see The 5.6.7.8's again. Very tight and fun and Yoshiko was on fire on guitar.
Turned out though they were just the opener -- for The Strikes, who I'd never heard of. They rather great too as well as a perfect match and also have some air of mystery about them.
From what I can find online, seems they formed around the same time as The 5.6.7.8's in the mid-late '80s and hit it off, but then went into hibernation for the better part of a couple decades.
As far as I can tell, they don't really have any music for sale digitally; silly me only bought the two 5.6.7.8's releases on offer on site, including a single being sold for the eye-watering price of a CD by the band members themselves.
There was one Strikes song in particular that was the best tune of the night but no idea what it's called. I'll be back for more.
F*CK. I need to go. I MUST.
Perché il garage rock nipponico delle 5.6.7.8′s sia di buon auspicio per una settimana da Black Mamba.
Da Kill Bill Vol.1, I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield e Woo Hoo.
(E da rivedere: il dialogo iniziale di Kill Bill Vol 2., Bill e la sposa. “Ascolto musica tutto il giorno, è fichissimo”.)
