     yuseong bay is a small town so there are more slow days in the clinic than busy ones. even with the addition of the resort and its tourists, aera still can say that she spends more time in the break room waiting for any patients to come in than actually doing her work as a nurse, which honestly isn't bad, even more so when it means that so few people in yuseong bay or in the resort are getting hurt. but it does still get a little boring sometimes, it still forces aera to find something to do with her time when it isn't being occupied with her patients and crochet has been that something ever since she was in technical school, trying to fight off the urge to drop everything because classes and exams could be a little too overwhelmingly stressful.

     but the thing is that aera sometimes does end up losing the notion of time when she gets too engrossed in whatever she's making this time — a request from a friend that wanted to matching sweater for them and their cat — so it's nice to have someone around that will remind her to not spend her whole lunch break with crochet needle and a thread on her hand instead of eating, that someone being selena — the part time recepcionist of the clinic. selena is nice and aera has honestly yet to witness her getting genuinely upset at the nurse for her habit, but it doesn't stop aera from feeling a little self conscious when she steps out of the break room with her wallet and cellphone in hand.

     "i haven't eaten yet!" she answers in person to the text that she received from her friend, deciding to completely ignore the part where selena called her out since aera was a bad liar anyway, any excuse that her mind could produce being so ridiculous it was obviously not the truth. "i was actually thinking we could go together." which isn't necessarily a lie since aera did think of it when she saw selena's text, assuming that the other hasn't had her own lunch yet. "and then you can tell me all bout what wild thing that you mentioned in your text."

     taeho feels so light it's almost scary.

     but then he supposes that this is the whole point of getting high, even more probably that being the reason they use that expression to describe this anyway. besides it does feel nice, this feeling almost like he's floating — each step with a little skip to it, as if gravity wasn't holding him down as much as it usually would — even though selena's hand feels very real where he's holding it; just lacing their pinkies together because taeho was genuinely scared that he might float away and he has not only classes but work the next day, he didn't have the luxury to spend his day away quite literally in the clouds and most importantly how would he come down later? could he even survive up there for the rest of his life if that was the case?

     taeho looks at selena then and is tempted to drap the jacket that he's wearing on her, not only because the night is chilly around them, the weather still holding onto the last remnants of spring before welcoming summer, but also because she seemed so light, what if she's the one floating away? what if the strength of his pinky isn't enough to hold her down? what if—

     he decides to hold her hand properly before his mind can spiral into more disastrous scenarios, even gives it a little squeeze just to be sure that selena is secure by his side, that she won't be taken away unless taeho is dragged with her. only then he allows himself to tune his attention back to little game that they're playing, remembering that he's supposed to look around and try to spot something for selena to guess.

     taeho hums for a lingering moment, connecting his thumb and index finger before hovering the makeshift one eye binocle over his left eye and consequently making him close his right one. "i spy with my little eye—" he starts even though he didn't decide what exactly he's spying, looking around to see if he catches anything that is easy enough for selena to guess without difficulties but still making it fun. but then his eyes end up falling on selena and that gives him in an idea. "the prettiest girl of yuseong bay." he finishes with a grin.

     the first thing that taeho noticed about her is the fact that selena talks a lot; but not in a bad way. it just showed she was comfortable with any and all kinds of people (even with someone with a frown that seemed tattooed on their face). actually he was a little jealous of how easily she seemed to just get along with everyone, speaking to strangers like they're old friends. he was a little jealous that selena seemed like someone who was easy to love, of the way that she seemed to captivate anyone around her; of the way she, in a way, captivated taeho too even if he (now guiltily) thought that they'd never get along because they were so obviously different from each other, the tale of an extrovert that adopted an introvert, being nothing more than just that— a trope that people liked to use to write their fictional work.

     he still thinks that selena talks a lot; but not in a bad way. it just shows that she's comfortable with any and all kinds of people (even with someone with a frown that seemed tattooed on their face and isn't the best of the moods in the morning), it also means that she knows how to fill the silence that taeho leaves between them sometimes even when desperate in finding a way to fill it himself, though still being mindful of taeho's social battery which is something that he's grateful for and a gesture that he finds immensely sweet and thoughtful, even more so when he's more than used to people ignoring that instead of taking it into consideration.

     one thing that didn't change in taeho's impression, however, is how selena seems like one of those people that others says that are living their first life. he doesn't know how to really explain it besides how he feels like selena looks at life with hints of awe and excitement where taeho can only face that same life with pragmatic nonchalance; if not downright pessimism; this being another aspect that makes taeho incredibly fond of her even if he doesn't think he'll ever admit it out loud.
