It's so interesting how when Bobby talks to Buck about Abby, he's mostly giving advice about what Buck should do. Buck is young and immature and this is his first serious relationship; he relies on Bobby for wisdom on how to navigate the complications.

So when Bobby says he knows Tommy is good for Buck "because we haven't had to talk about him," it's not just a reflection on Tommy's character. It's also a reflection of how much Buck has learned and grown over the years. They haven't had to talk about Tommy because Buck hasn't needed to ask for advice - he's in a mature, stable spot in his life and he knows what he wants.

The first responders rush to save a homeless man crushed in a garbage truck, a mother and son in a crashed elevator and extreme hoarders entombed in their house.

Ugh, okay, so this is really annoying me now. Once again, Buck had a chance for an out, this time being given by Abby. She said that she didn't want to drag him down, so they should break up, but Buck told her basically that he was all in. And it was at this point that she SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO HER GUNS AND BROKEN UP WITH HIM. Because it's only the next episode where she abandons him, so at this point, she MUST know that Buck is not long term for her. Here he is, showing his heart and his commitment, and instead of doing the right thing and letting him go, she holds on so she's got someone as a distraction/someone to vent to. She could still try to have him as a friend so she can still have a support system, but instead, she keeps him holding on, and it's just so incredibly selfish. I have said it over and over, I sympathise with what Abby is going through, because dealing with her mum must be SO HARD, but she is using Buck to make herself feel better and she breaks his heart in the process. You know what, her ghosting him and not coming back? Completely in character. Because so far, she's shown that she can be quite selfish. (And hey, there's nothing wrong with being a little selfish, just as long as it doesn't hurt anyone to do so, and that is not the case here.)

And watching their conversation before the talk of breaking up, it makes me wonder, does Abby even know anything about Buck? Whenever we see any conversations between the two, it's always talking about Abby and her issues, never about Buck. We say how Buck and Tommy had communication issues (which clearly they did), but we still saw snippets that we know that Buck knew at least a LITTLE of Tommy's past (what it was like at the 118, his dad). But the Abby/Buck relationship? It's all a one-way street. Buck gives, Abby takes.
