Evan 'Buck' Buckley and Eddie Diaz: Their Story So Far
So, here’s the Buddie timeline that I promised!
Once again, this is a rough guide and I may be a month or so out in certain situations but I’m pretty happy with it overall!

Evan 'Buck' Buckley and Eddie Diaz: Their Story So Far
So, here’s the Buddie timeline that I promised!
Once again, this is a rough guide and I may be a month or so out in certain situations but I’m pretty happy with it overall!
when she fell asleep at the end of 1x04 it was october 23rd
when she woke up it was march 18
abby fell asleep for almost 5 months. no wonder patricia went for a walk lmao
Since people are being dumb about 'why is Tommy a pallbearer, he barely knew Bobby and the 118' I tried to make a timeline.
2005: ‘Chimney begins’: Chimney decides to become a firefighter.
2006: Chimney starts working at the 118. Tommy is already working there. (note 1)
2008: ‘Hen begins’: Hen decides to become a firefighter. (note 2)
2009: Hen starts working at the 118. Tommy is still working there.
June 2015: ‘Bobby begins again’: Bobby starts working at the 118. Tommy is still working there. (note 3)
April 2017: Tommy saves Bobby's life in a house fire. (note 4)
2017 (?): Tommy transfers. The team gets him a cake and a surprise party, because, you know, they are friends.
2017: ‘Buck begins’. Buck starts working at the 118. Tommy is no longer working there.
2019: Tommy saves Eddie's life with a water drop.
2024: Tommy saves Bobby and Athena by flying into a hurricane.
2025: Tommy saves Chimney, Ravi and Hen by creating a diversion so the cure could be delivered. (Remember, the feds were willing to let everyone in that lab die).
During the medal ceremony, Tommy says he transferred out of the 118 ‘five years ago’. But in the same episode Buck is revealed to have been working there for ‘seven years’. In conclusion, the writers can’t do maths and making timelines is impossible. However, assuming the shortest timespan for everything, and assuming that Tommy transferred in 2017, this means:
Tommy worked with Chimney for 11 years.
Tommy worked with Hen for 8 years.
Tommy worked with Bobby for at least 2 years.
Note 1: According to the internet, the training to become a firefighter takes a year. If anyone has conflicting information, please tell me.
Note 2: The Twilight reference puts the date as 2008. I’m again assuming that training takes a year.
Note 3: Thank you Tumblr user a-mel0n for pointing out the apartment fire is on dec 16, 2014, which means that six months later, when Bobby starts working at the 118, it is june 2015.
Note 4: Thank you Tumblr user bucktommybegins for pointing out we have a precise date for the housefire: april 6, 2017.
Broke: Where was May in the last episode on 911?
Woke: Knowing May was busy in nursing school, finishing her new degree, so she can be in the operating room to save Athena.
your timeline wrangling services are needed, the chat thinks the timeline for 8x17 doesn't make any sense.
...Honestly, it kind of doesn’t!
Edit: good point in the comments makes it make more sense. lol i was so tired when I wrote this.
I don’t necessarily keep track of how many days pass within each episode, but I do keep track of general timeline mentions, and from what I noticed:
The last time Eddie talked to Bobby was 2 weeks before Bobby died, about a deal on a slow cooker (8x17). That’s around April 3rd, the air date of 8x13. This is if we interpret Eddie’s statement as saying the text was sent 2 weeks before he looked at it again right after getting the news.
In 8x13, Eddie makes dinner in a slow cooker; I have to assume Eddie texted Bobby about that deal earlier the same day or the day before that scene in 8x13.
So 8x13 should be two weeks before 8x14–8x15.
The contagion arc of 8x14 and 8x15 take place all within a few hours. Bobby dies on April 17th, 2025, according to his funeral program in 8x16 (Apr 17th is the air date of 8x15; they’ve used air dates for deathdates before with Shannon dying in 2x17 aired on May 6th, 2019, matching her gravestone in 6x15).
8x16 begins “almost two weeks” after Bobby’s death, so it’s around the end of April.
In 8x16, Athena says “the funeral’s next Tuesday” — so that’s either Tuesday, April 29th or Tuesday, May 6th.
The day of the funeral, Eddie arrives in LA and Chimney says it’s been two weeks since Bobby died, implying it’s around May 1st (which is the 8x16 air date).
Possibly the best case for the funeral is if it’s actually Tuesday, April 29th, which is....not quite 2 weeks, it’s 12 days, and it means the episode really started 1 week and a few days after Bobby’s death, not really almost 2 weeks.
8x17 seems to start at least a few days after Eddie arrived in LA on Bobby’s funeral day, based on how Eddie talks by saying “the other day” and staying longer than planned.
(Unrelated, did Eddie book a one-way flight to LA for the funeral?? or cancel his return flight???)
Below is the funeral program I mentioned, it’s from the scene where Athena arrives to the funeral.
So uh. Awful screenshots but something that has been bugging me. Same scene (Eddie and Shannon fighting about him signing up for another tour). Disney plus version says 2013. 🏴☠️ version says 2015.
Is Maddie older than Daniel?
I was just debating this over on X, the 911 wiki page has Daniel’s birth year listed as 1983 and Maddie’s as 1984 but it also states that Daniel is the her younger brother.
So I did a bit of a deep dive…
Now, we all know the 911 timeline is non existent, the writers change it as they see fit, but for those of you like myself who like a bit of cannon continuity here we go..
Going by the cannon dialogue:
The photo of Daniel that Buck finds was taken in 1988 (date is written in the back).
Maddie says he was 7 when Buck was born and died a year later which we can guess puts him at maybe 8.
Buck’s canon birthday is 27/6/91 (so Daniel died some time in 1992) which would mean Daniel was born some time 1984 putting him at 4 years old in the photograph, and Maddie says he got sick right after it was taken, and it was 3 years of treatment before they had Buck which lines up with Buck being born in 1991.
So if Maddie is younger than Daniel she could have been max of 3 when he got sick in 1988 (if we follow a minimum of 10 months between his birth and hers because that’s how pregnancy and fertility cycles work) which puts her DOB somewhere in 1985 leaving just a year between her and Daniel.
JLH’s DOB is 1979 making her 45 as of today, if we go with Maddie being younger she would be 39 at current.
In one of the Buck Begins flashbacks we see Maddie tell Buck in 2004 she’s applied to nursing schools, you have to be 18 to start a nursing program in America so if Maddie was 18 in 2004 that puts her birth year as 1986 which makes her 2 years younger than Daniel.
Her memories of that time would be questionable at best at that age (I work with toddlers so I have some knowledge on what memory retention is at that age) but that would make her 6 when Daniel died which is old enough to remember it and the change in their family.
So going by a birth year of 1986 that would make Maddie the middle child and only 5 years older than Buck.
In summary:
Daniel born 1984
Maddie born 1986
Buck born 1991
9-1-1 is known for having ridiculous timeline inconsistencies and timelines that just do not add up, but season 8b is a whole new level of bad. Because, before the hiatus the season seems to be taking place at the same time of year as it was airing. There's no skip between 8a and the beginning of 8b and then the skip between 8x10 and 8x11 is only a few weeks. Which means Eddie left LA in late November/early December, and Buck then sleeps with Tommy and has the discussion about whether or not he loves Eddie in early January, putting the shows timeline about two months behind the real world one. Then in 8x14 Buck says to Ravi, 'No one else is quitting this month', suggesting less than a month has passed since Eddie left for El Paso, even though five weeks have passed in real time. But then Bobby's remains being held for two weeks after his death made many people presume that 8x16 was set in the current time as the show had just returned from a two week hiatus which would mean that actually over three months had passed between 8x10 and 8x14. Additionally Maddie being visibly much more pregnant, compared to the beginning of 8b, when she had no visible bump, would suggest this timeline tracks.
But then when season 9 starts they state that 6 months have passed since Bobby's death. And in 9x05, which takes place in the last week of October, Buck says it took him 4 months to find a place and 3 months to get the tenant to move out which suggests it has now a little over 7 months since Bobby's death, since Buck would have started looking for a place after Eddie decided to move back to LA. But that would mean that Bobby died late February/early March! But Maddie told Chim she was pregnant in 8x06 which aired November 6th and, since the episode before this was the Halloween episode, we know that the show timeline was aligned with the real world timeline at that point. Which would make her 4 months pregnant in March not close to full term. She would have been full term in August, and when I initially watched the season 8 finale I presumed the birth scene was a brief flash forward from the rest of the episode's events. But that would make Baby Bobby 2 months old and he is clearly much older than that.
So basically the events of season 8b after the time jump simultaneously took place over about a month and a half, 5 months and 3 months.
