okay, so i don’t want b99 to end just yet, but in the future that it does, i imagine jake becoming the fbi’s nypd liason officer (the job captain kim was offering him) as an ending with amy becoming the 99’s captain and captain holt finally becoming the commisioner of the nypd...

Jake liked Amy before he even realized it, and here’s why:

- right of the bat, in the first scene with the teddy bear, i already knew jake had a thing for amy

- THE ORIGINAL INTRO WHEN THEY TRIED TO GET THROUGH THE DOOR TOGETHER!!

- bc of the first ep, i thought they were that typical tv couple where they’re workmates who are somewhat friends, and the guy who teases the girl has a running gag of trying to get the girl to date him, and they eventually fall in love (this is lowkey peraltiago, but peraltiago still has a certain freshness that differs them from this stereotypical type of couple)

- i thought that jake really had a crush on amy where she knows and he’s trying to piss her off usung the bet (mind you, it was only until “the bet” where they confirmed that it was amy who initiated jake’s winning conditions so one could only assume why jake would put the date as his punishment for amy’s loss)

- gina didn’t tell us in the first ep the real background of the bet + SHE JOKED THAT JAKE AND AMY’S DATE WOULD END WITH THEM SLEEPING TOGETHER

- a person can like someone without them realizing (i have never been in a relationship, but i have friends who experienced this)

- exactly what charles said, jake puts too much effort with amy knowing how he was they guy who searched for “cheap date ideas”

- it seems as if the whole precint noticed their dynamic and how jake crushes on amy (rosa, for example, was never part of the convo between jake and charles at shaw’s during the bet, but in tactical village and the jimmy jab games, you could see that she was rooting for jake and amy to get together)

- WHEN THEY MET!! you could see that jake actually looked interested to get to know amy, but charles’ comment really made it awkward and the thought of them getting together just got shelved

- how could we even forget,, AMY USED TO BE JAKE’S VIEW... and while this was a thing, jake used to banter with amy A LOT and unbeknownst to him, he was practically flirting with amy

- THAT COLD OPENING WHERE JAKE CRASHED AMY’S DATE (his own date almost left him but said it was worth it because he got to interrupt amy’s date)

- this is kinda a personal theory, but what if he agreed on the idea of taking amy on a date because he was lowkey offended that amy thought a date with him would be the worst thing in the world?? i know that the bet was to prove that he was the better detective, but sometimes we do things with extra unknown reasons...

anyway,, these are what i just had in mind. happy almost 3rd wedding anniversary to my favorite sitcom couple! <3

HAMNET assists the 99ER Cycle Tour every year with emergency communications work. All our communications and tracking is done via radio, so no Internet or cellular communications are used. This covers the whole route from Durbanville out to Malmesbury and back. We have a radio control situated at the JOC in Durbanville which coordinates all our radio comms and monitors the locations of all our members as well as sweeps and ambulances that are carrying our radio trackers.

Some HAMNET members are roving along different segments of the 45 km, 76 km, and 95 km routes, whilst others are doing static duties at problem areas. I was doing static duty before one of the narrow single lane bridges on the R304. My job was to watch for packs of riders approaching the long straight before my position, and to warn another HAMNET member who was standing on the far side of the bridge with a traffic officer, so that they could close the bridge to vehicular traffic before the riders reached the bridge. I could also alert them to when the rider volume drops so that they can reopen the bridge to let vehicles through.

On the technology front, we mainly use:

Two high site radio repeaters that cover most of the route for voice comms and will relay between all of us and the JOC control.

In our vehicles we use various VHF mobile radios which would reach the repeater sites.

The static members would be using their portable radios using simplex VHF frequencies — short range for direct local comms.

APRS is used for the tracking of vehicles, ambulances etc. It is radio based and some mobile radios have APRS functionality built in, whilst the rest will carry one of our portable APRS trackers with them. This allows Control to see where everyone is in real-time.

Two mobile APRS digipeaters were located on hills to help cover any blind spots.

The mobile weather station connects via a radio to send weather telemetry over APRS.

Exercises like this allow us to practice our radio and teamwork for if we do need to be of assistance during disasters where there may not be any Internet or cellular communications. Although this exercise was all short range (under 50 km) our HF radios, and digital modes over them, allow us to communicate and send e-mails over 10,000 km or more.
