The countdown is on — only one week until I take on NYC with my Dad and I simply cannot wait! I’m already starting to plan my outfits for the Broadway show and all of our different dinner locations. The one requirement for this trip was that I was in charge of planning everything. Yesterday I made dinner reservations for every night we would be there, I found so many cute cafes and I planned out every day of the trip.
Before we can do anything in the city however, we need to get there first!! Dad and I are taking the train to the city which I am so excited for. I have never been on a train before, so I can already tell this trip is going to be full of fun surprises. It’s six hours from Richmond to New York City so I need to make sure that my carry on is filled with everything that I need for the long journey on Wednesday. Here are some of the things I will be keeping my carry on bag!
Longchamp Bag – I love my large Longchamp tote. They’re so durable and roomy — great for travel! The handles are long too so you can pull the bag over the shoulder. Also, you can’t get over the classic silhouette!
Snacks – I know the train will have some snacks if I need them but I tend to get low blood sugar so I like to keep a little package of fruit snacks in my purse and a pack of gum to chew on.
Macbook Pro – I take my Macbook everywhere with me because I can always get a jump ahead on blog posts, school work, or picture editing. The 13 inch Macbook Pro fits into the large Longchamp perfectly.
Gold Beats – The Beats go great with all Apple products. I am always raving about the Solo 2’s because they not only cancel (almost all) noise but they have built in wifi if you want to cut down on the chords. They hold charge for so long too, which is always a plus for long train rides.
S’Well Bottle – I love the S’well Bottles because they keep water cold for 24 hours. I will absolutely be bringing my Lilly Pulitzer S’Well with me on the train because I can keep ice water with me.
A Good Book – I’m reading the second book in the Red Queen series and it’s so good. I haven’t had enough time in my day to sit down and read with all of my schoolwork recently but I am going to take this 6 hours train ride to my full advantage. It’s a great idea to bring a good book to read for when your computer dies.
Cosmetic Case – I know as soon as my dad and I get off the train in NYC we are going to check our bags in the hotel and get exploring. I don’t want to take on the Big Apple without my best foot (or face) forward so I am going to keep a little cosmetic case with my makeup, perfume, hair ties, travel hair brush, and tampons. It’s just always great to be prepared.
Wallet – for obvious reasons.
Camera – Again, we are going to check our bags at the hotel and then go exploring so I don’t want to have to go into my bags and look for my camera. Also, I have so much time on the train to get things done, you and I both know I will be editing pictures for a chunk of the time.
