The air was tense, but not the cut throat kind he had grown to be used to. It was much more subtle. However it was still just as grating. Atem prepared two glasses, marveling at the intricate cut of the crystal glasses when the door finally opened.
“Good. You’re here.”
He gave a warm smile, one with a knowing edge, though he couldn’t help but feel as though he as enguard. There was no telling how deep this problem resonated and that was not something he’d bypass just for time’s sake. His intention was for them both to walk away with a clear head of resolution.
Atem opened the bottle of wine with ease, fingers expertly popping out the cork before he poured a healthy amount into both glasses. Odds were he’d thank himself for this little favor. Confrontation was never quite something he enjoyed. Arm extended, he beckoned with a glass for Amelda to take a seat on the sofa next to him.
“Come, sit.”
