Hey there.

I might just drop in here and act as a platform for another crowd-source project. The premise is this: Elven names, generated via a fore-morpheme, sur-morpheme, and a gendered suffix/honorifics (the latter being optional). So, it's like writing a whole name of a person at once like Johndoeman or Janedoewoman.

The suffixes/honorifics are already written, and a huge lot of morphemes generated; Now, to the dictionary part.

Name means, translated from the WIP collaboration conlang with free participation - Aba'abe, "Da Fire Script".

I like it quite much, this script is pretty neat. Runic, has a basic digraphic alteration system, is something of a monobet to be honest but still pretty nice.

I will try to work with what is given and make Aba'abe into an actual conlang.

Another "inventing languages backwards" bullshit project.

I'd say that Aba'abe project is pretty much done for the first stage and I will return to it someday later, but meanwhile, followers, I present to you a different idea.

What if we did something similar, with a pre-generated onomasticon of sorts, but:

The words are longer.

There's some semblance of orthography, but no defined phonology.

We must assign meanings to words and then break down the morphology.

Say we have a word "Ansendir". We could give it a definition: "Oxbow lake". Now, we say that it's not just one morpheme, but three: "Ans", "en", "dir", which together (in some combination) mean (literally) "crescent-shaped lake".

WIP name for this right now is gonna be just that, Ansendir, and the only reference point will be an Awkwords setting preset (see under cut) and this post on @444namesplus. I will open a free-to-edit document if people seem interested enough.

The [S] subpattern defines a singular syllable, so to generate a two-syllable word just put "SS" in the pattern field on the revived Awkwords site.

Man, istg Aba'abe is almost done. At this point all that's needed is just filler between the definitions that are already there. Like, 75% of the doc are filled out.

I gave some definitions and will add some daily, but please I BEG you guys don't leave yet, all of these are gems.

Since the last time I logged onto the Aba'abe doc there appeared 338 edits.

We might actually cover the entire document by the end of the week if people keep coming and adding definitions.

About Aba'abe.

I will be working still on filling in the entirety of Aba'abe dictionary, but in the mean time I just changed the entire document's font to Comic Sans (because it helps with creativity and is eye-friendly to me, but you are free to burn me at the stake and eat my crab intestines if you so wish).

Aba'abe is a fun project and I loved the peak of activity there, sadly, as usual, just like many other free-access works I did I failed to advertise it widely or keep people entertained enough to stay. Still, it got to a great degree of completion, some 80% if I dare say (can't count them all).

Once the dictionary is ready, I will:

Release a writing system for it, something similar to Hangul where each of the words on the dictionary fits into one symbol.

Will whip out a reverse dictionary which will then must be fitted with the definitions based on the old one. If there is no word for "tiger" in the original dictionary, the word for it will be "stripe-wildcat" or something in the new one.

Will attempt to evolve the language phonetically, following the rules of easy pronunciation and stuff like that.

If anyone wishes to keep participating, this is your call! Come and go ham as usual, because Van Goghdamn did we get a wild brew going on.
